Hello everyone,

I am looking to replace my old Shimano Sedona with a higher speed spinning reel.  My Shimano has been great, but at 5 to 1, yeah I have to catch up a lot to the lure.  I am thinking about either reel mentioned in the title and looking for recommendations of people who have used them, or own both.  Any help, opinions is greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Wdy

I have several spinning setups and my Revo SX is a close second to my Stradic FJ. The Revo is a 30 and I like the way it handles florocarbon. I fish braid with a leader mostly but I like having the extra spool that came with the SX for a full spool of 8# florocarbon. I use it to allow a sinko or fluke Jr. to sink deeper when fish are hanging down deep this time of year. I'm not sure what Lews reel I have but the drag is not as smooth as the Revo and I had several wind knots using braid.

i had a couple lew's spinning reels and was less than impressed.  i have 4 of their casting reels, so i'm no hater in that regard.  just think that for the $ you can get a much better reel than the lew's spinning.  i have no experience with that Abu so can't offer much there.

SX for me hands down if that is all you're torn between. Personally I'd rather save for a bit longer and grab myself a shimano stradic fk. Retails for if I remember correctly 40 more and blows both of them out of the water handa down. Just my .02 though.

Thanks everyone, but I ended up getting a Shimano Symetry 2500 at Cabela's for $80.

Thanks again for all the opinions, tight lines.

Not really, I had the Revo in hand at home and just decided I didn't want to spend that much for a wading the river spinning reel.

It was a nice reel, but at an $80 difference I need to be more responsible with $$ now. Thanks again everyone.
