WdyCrankbait Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 Hello everyone, I am looking to replace my old Shimano Sedona with a higher speed spinning reel. My Shimano has been great, but at 5 to 1, yeah I have to catch up a lot to the lure. I am thinking about either reel mentioned in the title and looking for recommendations of people who have used them, or own both. Any help, opinions is greatly appreciated! Thanks, Wdy 1 Quote
Chrisran99 Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 I have several spinning setups and my Revo SX is a close second to my Stradic FJ. The Revo is a 30 and I like the way it handles florocarbon. I fish braid with a leader mostly but I like having the extra spool that came with the SX for a full spool of 8# florocarbon. I use it to allow a sinko or fluke Jr. to sink deeper when fish are hanging down deep this time of year. I'm not sure what Lews reel I have but the drag is not as smooth as the Revo and I had several wind knots using braid. Quote
Super User buzzed bait Posted June 27, 2016 Super User Posted June 27, 2016 i had a couple lew's spinning reels and was less than impressed. i have 4 of their casting reels, so i'm no hater in that regard. just think that for the $ you can get a much better reel than the lew's spinning. i have no experience with that Abu so can't offer much there. Fishinthefish Posted June 27, 2016 Posted June 27, 2016 SX for me hands down if that is all you're torn between. Personally I'd rather save for a bit longer and grab myself a shimano stradic fk. Retails for if I remember correctly 40 more and blows both of them out of the water handa down. Just my .02 though. Quote
WdyCrankbait Posted June 27, 2016 Author Posted June 27, 2016 Thanks everyone, but I ended up getting a Shimano Symetry 2500 at Cabela's for $80. Thanks again for all the opinions, tight lines. Wdy Quote

WdyCrankbait Posted June 28, 2016 Author Posted June 28, 2016 Not really, I had the Revo in hand at home and just decided I didn't want to spend that much for a wading the river spinning reel. It was a nice reel, but at an $80 difference I need to be more responsible with $$ now. Thanks again everyone. Quote
