Braid For Moving Baits

I am getting a 6.3:1 Cabela's Arachnid Reel and a 7'1" MH Tournament ZX Rod. I am leaning towards 15 pound tub line force, it is on sale will this work?

First I guess you mean a baitcaster.  By moving baits do you mean crankbaits, rattle traps and spinnerbaits? If so I would lean away from braid. I like P Line Floroclear ( copolymer line that is floro coated). Some of my friends use 10# P Line CXX in moss green. To get a crankbait deeper sometimes even a straight floro will work.  The only time I throw those kind of baits on braid is if I am throwing rattle traps for strippers.  Then I want it for shear strength and I will go to 20 or 30# Power Pro braid or Sufffix 832 braid.  Now if you are talking about throwing a frog I use 50 to 65# Power Pro always.

I like braid for crank baits as i can use a smaller diameter line to get them deeper and not sacrifice strength.  I do have a moderate action rod though which helps as far as give goes.  Also 15lb braid is going be pretty thin and i know on my bait casters i don't go lower than 20lb because of the handling characteristics and cast ability.

For moving baits try P Line CXX in moss green.  I also like their P Line Floroclear.

I have a spin combo with 20 lb braid that I'll use for jerkbaits, small cranks and also for some finesse stuff. It's sort of a catch-all rod for everything the MH combo isn't suited for. I never want to remove the weightless Trick Worm from the MH combo, honestly, but there are some small baits the BC combos won't cast well, like a Rapala Minnow. I'll admit it's not the best situation for some baits, but it's moderate medium and just feels right. I like the lower twist properties of braid. It has whooped some really good bass with this setup, even using trebles.

I would agree with this. The moderate action and a little less drag will definitely help. I use straight braid for all of my finesse cranks on the river and it is working fairly well. Sometimes I'll throw cranks on a 2-3 ft flouro leader, I'm not sure if it helps with shock absorption or not but that's an option as well.

If you're into experimenting and your waters will allow, try some 12# Yo Zuri. I did and settled on this and very pleased.

I have thought about the shock leader aspect too but i can't help but think that stretch in such a short piece of line isn't going to make that much difference but I do know it is all about confidence and if using a flouro leader makes you feel more confident than I am all for it....

Moving baits is such a broad category.  Single hook baits like spinner swimjig and the like work well on braid because the lack of stretch helps drive the hook.  Treble hook baits are best on copoly IMO.  Some love braid for everything, I believe its the right tool some of the time.
