Hey guys recently moved to the east metro by Woodbury Minnesota. I'm looking for a decent lake to fish bass from a boat. I've tried demontreville and Jane and had mediocre luck. Any recommendations would be welcome thanks! Trying to keep it within say a 30-40 min drive from Woodbury, closer the better.

Thank you.

That whole chain up there...Big Marine, Chisago, Demontreville, Jane, others are full of big bass.  Catch and release restrictions have really bolstered the population of LMB in these lakes.

Pick one or two and start to learn the lake.  Look for and study a topo map to get yourself oriented.

Take your time...you will find em and will do great.

You're close to Lake Elmo! That's a pretty interesting lake because there's bass, pike, tiger muskie.. and trout. Pretty unique lake. It's VERY deep too, like 130 feet. I've heard the fishing is tough though because of sparse vegetation, but it might be worth taking a look.

You're also pretty close to St Croix which has some of the best fishing (smallies!) in the state.

Bald Eagle Lake is decent with good structure but this time of year on a nice day there will be so much recreational traffic you won't want to be out there.

What about on week days?

Yes, you could go during the week or early AM on the weekend.  Or in the rain.
