Toledo Bend is 65 miles long, 10 miles wide, 185-190,000 acers, 1,200-1,300 miles of shoreline, average depth of 60', max depth of 110'; that's a water volume of 4,477,000 acre feet of water! Care to guess how many bass are in this lake? Care to guess what percentage of those bass are females? Care to guess how many eggs those females lay each year? One person says catch n release save the world and it hits social media and becomes some sort of law. Seems everyone got stupid over night and forgot people have been eating fish for ever. Not saying possibly some lake or ponds don't need that type of program but geez. At least check into it a little. Maybe just maybe your particular fishing spot needs fish removed. Blanket across the board save every bass isn't necessarily going to make everywhere have abundant nice size bass. Quote

GoCougs14 Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 Been in dallas on buisness for 3 weeks, and its a pretty cool feeling to be so close to all these top 20 bass fishing lakes. Fishings good up in northern idaho but not like this! Unfortunately I wasnt able to bring any fishing gear, but seeing how close I am to Toledo Bend and Lake Fork are certainy making me regret it.... 1 Quote

Ya close to Lake Falcon Lake Palestine, Lake Ray Roberts, Squaw Creek, Lake Texoma, Caddo Lake, & Lake Bistineau! All on the top 25 for the central division! Quote
Super User Gundog Posted June 21, 2016 Super User Posted June 21, 2016 I agree that keeping some fish actually helps lakes. Here in PA we have a fish & boat commission. They use random stupidity to designate every other lake as a "big bass lake" which basically means you can't take any bass under 15 inches. That just means small bass stay small. Too many small fish means less big fish. Stupid bureaucrats. Quote

Louisiana alone stocks over 800,000 Florida strain fingerlings every year. At the Elite Series event this year many of the Elite Series pros participated in releasing over 70,000 fingerlings around the lake. They stock for the genitics to produce 10#+ bass! Not all bass are capable of reaching 10#+! The fingerlings they stock come from bass that are 10#+ only. Quote
