People have been eating bass out of that lake since it was built & it's only getting better each year!

I willing to bet that's why its so good. I just read something the other week that said everyone harvesting bass at Toledo was killing it lol. I wish more people would eat the bass around here, makes for a balanced fishery

People who made these kinds of statements have no idea what they are saying!

Toledo Bend is 65 miles long, 10 miles wide, 185-190,000 acers, 1,200-1,300 miles of shoreline, average depth of 60', max depth of 110'; that's a water volume of 4,477,000 acre feet of water!

Care to guess how many bass are in this lake?

Care to guess what percentage of those bass are females?

Care to guess how many eggs those females lay each year?

Ya really think it can be fished out? ;)

I agree Cat seems like everything else these days. One person says catch n release save the world and it hits social media and becomes some sort of law.

Seems everyone got stupid over night and forgot people have been eating fish for ever. Not saying possibly some lake or ponds don't need that type of program but geez.

At least check into it a little. Maybe just maybe your particular fishing spot needs fish removed. Blanket across the board save every bass isn't necessarily going to make everywhere have abundant nice size bass.

Good Deal!!!   maybe that write up will bring some revenue to the area.

That pic of the standing wood stickin up, just looks so bass friendly I wanna toss a big spinnerbait thru them.

Now,. leave some fish for the rest of us Catt!, And I guess you could say that in  the "catching a ten pounder" thread,... Catt had hit the nail on the head,.  or,..R U psychic?,.. Been hanging out on bourbon st new orleans with the voodoo palm readers? asking where the best bass lake is? probably cost ya more then a live chicken tho,...maybe a bushel of crawdads? frog legs? new car?,...Caviar?, think i'll buy me  a football team?,.lol,

just kidding, no disrespect Catt, but definately kudos to you. I never doubted ya for a second. If you bass fish and never heard of toledo bend, somethings wrong

Been in dallas on buisness for 3 weeks, and its a pretty cool feeling to be so close to all these top 20 bass fishing lakes. Fishings good up in northern idaho but not like this! Unfortunately I wasnt able to bring any fishing gear, but seeing how close I am to Toledo Bend and Lake Fork are certainy making me regret it....

I agree that keeping some fish actually helps lakes. Here in PA we have a fish & boat commission. They use random stupidity to designate every other lake as a "big bass lake" which basically means you can't take any bass under 15 inches. That just means small bass stay small. Too many small fish means less big fish. Stupid bureaucrats.

my lake and river is very under harvested. We are also overrun with spots, I eat all legal spots but one guy cant make much difference.

easy solution: go to walmart and buy a couple lures and/or some plastics and a cheap $20 combo, it will do you just fine for a trip or two out if you have the free time, when youre done with it, give it to a local kid so you dont have to travel back with it...

I want to retire, not work LOL !!!

However the amount of construction does present the thought of possibly finding a great paying job.

Ever wonder what makes Toledo Bend so good?

Plain and simple, because Louisiana and Texas departments of Wildlife are making it that way.  Louisiana alone stocks over 800,000 Florida strain fingerlings every year. At the Elite Series event this year many of the Elite Series pros participated in releasing over 70,000 fingerlings around the lake.  Check out Brent Chapman's videowith his thoughts on bass fishing and conservation.

If that's the case then they really wouldn't need to stock 800,000 bass a year.

I wish the CADFW was worth a crap. All they stock is trout and catfish and they have been cutting way back.

They stock for the genitics to produce 10#+ bass!

Not all bass are capable of reaching 10#+!

The fingerlings they stock come from bass that are 10#+ only.

How texoma Palestine and squaw creek beat out some other lakes I frequent in east texas I'll never know
