KTj0930 Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 Hello all. I'm just returning to bass fishing after an extended absence. I'm in the market for a new rod and reel set up. I've always used spinning reels (my current set up is a 6'6" MF with a 2500 size reel and 6# mono) as they've been the most comfortable and versatile for me. I'm not sure about baitcasters (scary ha ha). I'm looking for something that is very versatile and can be used effectively in the majority of situations and with the majority of baits/techniques. I don't have the money right now to go out and buy 5 or 6 rod/reels for specific stuff. My budget is safely between $100-$200 I'd say. This probably goes without saying but manufacturer/brand recommendations are greatly appreciated. Also, what type and # test line would best suit my needs? I've always used mono but should I be using something different? Any advice, direction, and/or recommendations you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Kris Quote

Kris The combo you have right now is very versatile. I would change the line to 20# braid and in some situations, a leader Quote
KTj0930 Posted June 20, 2016 Author Posted June 20, 2016 When would I need to use a leader? What type of line and what # test? Thanks for your help. Quote
