dam0007 Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 What frogs are you guys using and which ones did you not like? I'm trying to get into frog fishing but the few I have either fill with water constantly or don't walk good or I miss the hook up. Quote
chadmack282 Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 Booyah pad crasher & bend the hooks just a LITTLE bit to where the hooks points stick up just a LITTLE. Quote
wisconsin heat Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 Booyah Pad Crasher Standard Spro Popper Didn't like the Spro Original. 2/3 sank like a rock out of the package. Quote
Super User gim Posted June 20, 2016 Super User Posted June 20, 2016 A long, stout, heavy action bait casting rod with heavy line would certainly help with better hook sets too Quote

Yeah that's what I experienced today with brand new ones. The popper not as bad but eventually filled after about 3 casts. 22 minutes ago, gimruis said: A long, stout, heavy action bait casting rod with heavy line would certainly help with better hook sets too Running a 7'3 Mag Heavy 65# FX2 Thanks a bunch guys gonna order some Booyahs Quote
Plottman1974 Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 The booyahs are the most durable I've fished. Both the regular and small versions. Let us know how it works out. Quote
Super User burrows Posted June 20, 2016 Super User Posted June 20, 2016 Can't beat the pad crashers but I still like using the kvd frogs they are very durable ppl complain about the hook ups but some minor modifications will help, first remove the rattle inside the bait so it collapses easier second bend the hooks up just slightly and you got a great frog, the details on them are really nice. gobig Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 Snag proof bobby's perfect is my go to frog. I use others but this is my #1. Quote
ErikmonBillsfon Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 Livetarget mouse in small size is my fav. Easiest to walk, doesn't fill up with water. Can do wide walk or short little twitches. I have a great hook ratio on it as well. I also like ribbit frogs and keitech noisey flapper with spring lock hooks for moving frogs. 2 Quote
dam0007 Posted June 21, 2016 Author Posted June 21, 2016 These are what I have the spro popper and River 2 sea below it I know. The rest can anyone identify? The brown one I think is matzuo cause the white one not in picture looks just like it. All except the green one next to the 2 black ones sucked lol Edit* the green one that worked good and the black one below it look identical. But the black one kept filling with water the green one didn't. Idk 1 Quote
Frogfather Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 I have found, snag proof Ish's phat frog take on the least amount of water but it is a little bit more difficult to walk and they hold up really well. Best value (learn how to walk and set hook) is Pad Crusher. Great little frog there! White is a killer for me. Best all-around frog is LiveTarget. More .02 worth of help: pull hooks away from the body of frog with pliers. This will help hook up ratio. Lake Fork has a frog trailer for hollow body frogs and it works great but limits the walking of frog but will increase hook-ups. Make sure your not reeling too much line when your trying to walk frog. Sometimes we get caught up in what we see on TV or others doing on the water and don't fully understand why they do it. Slack is important to walk. No slack; no walkie. Best of luck! Quote
Foxyshazzam Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 Stay away from Matzuo frogs, I picked up three different ones from Kmart and each and every one pulled the ring out if the frogs mouth after a single hookset. Nearly impossible to set the hooks afterwards, unlike other frogs people have mentioned. Spro and Pad Crasher are great. Quote
Super User iabass8 Posted June 21, 2016 Super User Posted June 21, 2016 Ishs phat frog live target spro poppin Quote
Super User Montanaro Posted June 21, 2016 Super User Posted June 21, 2016 Dam0007 The green one is a "nervous walker" no longer in production. I had one and its incredibly soft and comes with rattles. Lots of good reviews on them as well as big bass. Cant find them anymore though Quote

Super User the reel ess Posted June 21, 2016 Super User Posted June 21, 2016 Using: Booyah Pad Crasher standard size Don't like: The one with legs-ya'll know the one. Fills with water. Fish will bite it, but I get no hookups even after tuning the hooks a bit. Lost a leg. Junk!!! and now it's in the landfill. Gonna Try next time out: Live Target Field Mouse And an older SPRO in black. And I may buy an H2O or two from Academy if price is right. The smaller and weedier the body of water, the better the frog fishing thru the warm months. 9 hours ago, Foxyshazzam said: Stay away from Matzuo frogs, I picked up three different ones from Kmart and each and every one pulled the ring out if the frogs mouth after a single hookset. I looked them up and they're sort of el cheapo, according to most people who've used them. I'll find some kid to give them away to at our next yard sale. Quote
dam0007 Posted June 21, 2016 Author Posted June 21, 2016 I don't think any of these are live target they don't look like them eyes and arms are different. Idk could be different production runs. The live targets belly has a silver think where hooks go in these dont. Hooks just run out a hole and circle thing is behind that Quote

buzzfrog Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 Booyah is nice. Spro is nice. I haven't bought any in a while. But Iobee is my favorite Quote
jtharris3 Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 I fish a lot of frogs. My best producer for the past couple years has been the Booya Pad Crasher. The KVD Sexy frog is a close second and the Spro after that. I've wanted to like the Live Target frog but it just doesn't seem to produce like the others, plus it tends to flip over sometimes which annoys me. The others don't do that. 1 Quote

I used it this evening. I got 2 bites but missed them. I think that fish was small. I caught 2 on the frog, 2 on buzzbaits and one on Hula Popper. I got this 5 lb'er on a white Hart Throb buzzbait. 2 Quote
