You_Only_Live_Once_Fishing Posted June 19, 2016 Posted June 19, 2016 I am looking to buy a new casting reel and want to only spend 120$ what should I get. Thanks Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted June 19, 2016 Super User Posted June 19, 2016 How about a Quantum Smoke PT 151 6.6:1 with 30 pound braid on it. You could use it for every thing. A-Jay 4 Quote

Robert Riley Posted June 19, 2016 Posted June 19, 2016 Lew's Mach1 is pretty sweet, my buddy loves his, it was his first casting reel. Could also get a Lew's TMB. Quote
Super User Senko lover Posted June 19, 2016 Super User Posted June 19, 2016 Spend 20 more bucks and get the Lews Tourney MB. You won't regret it. Or find the older version Tourney MG on a used site, it's the version I have and it rocks. 2 Quote
Super User Jeff H Posted June 20, 2016 Super User Posted June 20, 2016 I scored my Tatula CT for well under $120, if you can do that yourself it will be very hard to beat! Quote
snake95 Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 Revo SX works very well for me. $120 right on the money. Feels light, casts great, looks great. Noticeably better than lower-priced Abu's; almost as good as the STX (well, just as good, except for the less sophisticated braking system). Quote
JaxBasser Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 There is an eBay seller who has the Tatula CT for 109 or best offer. I offered 100 and he took it. He has a bunch so I bet he'll sell more at that price. Even 109 is a great deal. You can also snag the lews tournament mb for under 120. Quote

Dan_the_fisher Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 I bought 2 citicas for $240 off eBay last week, I don't think they can be beat in the $120 department 2 Quote
BassThumb Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 The new Citica is really hard to beat in that price range. Ebay has some. 1 Quote

Or find the older version Tourney MG on a used site, it's the version I have and it rocks. No need to add $20. I got my Tournament MB off ebay for $109. Liking it a lot so far. Of course the original Tatula is another great option that last time I looked it could be found for about $96 on ebay. If you can find the Tatula CT for $120 or less, I would add that to my short list. I've read good things about the Smoke 150 size reels, but have no experience with them. No experience with the cheaper Shimanos either, but I'm sure others can give you an opinion on them. Quote
MIfish Posted June 22, 2016 Posted June 22, 2016 Check out some YouTube reviews of various reels that you're thinking of buying. It'll be a good indicator of what you're looking at. Quote
