mrpao Posted June 23, 2016 Posted June 23, 2016 Sounds like you have a bad bearing. Water probably got in an started to corrode some of the parts. Quote

I'm waiting on a sale where they normally go down to 89 or even 79. They are $99 regular price. I have 3 and that's all I fish. X2. The PQ is the best 100 dollar reel out there. I've heard good things about the Shimano Casitas though. Quote
You_Only_Live_Once_Fishing Posted June 25, 2016 Author Posted June 25, 2016 I just ordered the Cabela's Arachnid 6.3:1 reel for 109$ Quote

Awesome. Seems the OP upped his budget too. However, I don't think he made a bad choice. I happen to be a fan of Daiwa reels. Own an older Cabela's Prodigy...a much cheaper reel and another Daiwa....and am very pleased with it. I own several T-wings and have had no problems with them with the exception of the cast control not working on a new reel. Removing and re-installing the plastic rod under the tension cap solved that problem. Had the OP given a budget of $180 I am sure he would have gotten quite a few different options than he did. The Arachnid may have been one. 1 Quote

Awesome. Well, people made lots of recommendations for the Daiwa Tatula line. The Cabela's Arachnid is a reel engineered by Daiwa, and it is very similar to the Tatula line of reels, with upgraded features. I was able to catch a sale where I could get it within my budget; meanwhile, using the recommendation of other people who may or may not be not on this site. So thanks for the advice, and hopefully this will help other anglers with a budget similar to mine. Thanks for all the help provided by the anglers of bass resource.com and the aspiring comedian (Hootie*)! 1 Quote

thirtysixit Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 When was the last time the reel was oiled before you purchased it? I fish the hell out of my smokes and they will squeal a little if they want some oil. After a good basic lube job they are back to great performance. Quote
