Zayne Royal Posted June 19, 2016 Posted June 19, 2016 I was looking at an Abu Garcia Orra spinning reel in the 40. Does anyone have any experience with it for up to 50 lb cat down to small bass? I would like some others thoughts about it before I decide on it. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted June 19, 2016 Global Moderator Posted June 19, 2016 Are you going to be targeting those catfish or just a potential accidental catch? There's not a reel out there that I'd intentionally fish for a 50 pound catfish, then turn around and fish for bass with. I wouldn't suggest the Abu Orra spinning reel for anything for that matter. I've never had a spinning reel that caused line twist so badly. Quote

I really have had no line twist problems. for me I get the worst line twist on my shimano sharra. but everyone is different. there deff is no reel that's going to do well targeting both of those species though. id look into a penn if you plan on targeting those big cats often. I want a variety rod because I'm only 14 and don't have much chance to get enough miney again for another reel. I had to do roofing for a week to get the money for this. 1 hour ago, nhpleasantlakebass said: I have both the orra sx 20 and 30 and I love them with 10lb power pro. I just need something that if I wanted to I can. I don't use high test line, only 15lb so the drag would be zinging Quote

Must be a newer model, the one I had it didn't matter type or brand, it was always a tangled mess no matter what I did. 3 minutes ago, Zayne Royal said: I would be targeting those cats, I use 15 lb line to get a good fight. I mostly run into flatheads that you wouldn't stand a chance with against them here. You can get a pretty inexpensive but functional combo for big catfish. Quote

I'm not, I fish the Maumee or the tiffin river in north west ohio. the Maumee has a crap ton of fallen trees and such at the bottom. Quote
