I am Moving to South Louisiana (Atchafalaya Basin) Lake Henderson area, is anyone on here from that area or familiar with the water?

I bought topos and aerials of the area looks like a lot of swamp and shallow lakes, I imagine a lot of flipping soft plastics.

Any advice from locals on getting bit ?

Thanks

KJG

I wish I could help out on the basin, but I've never fished it.  Once you get up to central LA I've fished most every lake, but nothing south of Indian creek for me.

Bass_Fanatic I have fished your area a few years back it was the Red River I dont remember the pool but it was just north of Alexandria had a great trip, Is that area still producing good fish? any advice on lakes in your area that are a must fish? Maybe I could treat you to a day on the basin for a day in your area. I am currently fishing out of a 2003 Nitro Z8/ Mercury 150 but I am selling her and have ordered a Triton 19TRX / 225 proXS optimax she was in Tyler Tx today should be here tomorrow she is my retirement present to myself.

The red river has been messed up for 2 years now with high water.  There are numerous "must fish" lakes here in central Louisiana IMO.  Salve/Larto can be great fishing and is one of the prettiest lakes in the area. Black lake is a flippers dream lake as it is FULL of cypress trees.  Cane River has more bass per acre than any other lake in LA. And of course, Toledo Bend is the best lake in the US.  Give me at holler one day and we can hook up and go to any lake you want.

Kevin, a few suggestions:

1. Please post in the Central section where Louisiana is discussed.

2. Be sure to always wear purple and gold when fishing.

3. Always yell "Geaux Tigers!" when setting the hook.

4. Keep us up to date on your great fishing adventures in Louisiana.

5. Post some good Cajun recipes for us all to enjoy. (First you make a roux).

6. With a name like Guidry, fishing is always great!

Catch some for me.
