Daiwa Tatula Help

So I just recently bought a Regular Tatula. I filled the line full on the spool and noticed a line rub on the T Wing when reeling in, it pushes the line down slightly and there's rubbing of the line on the backside (top wide part of the T Wing). To eliminate the rub I'd have to probably fill 1/8th from the edge of the spool. 

Do you guys think this is a non issue or should I take line off?

I've read 1/16, but I've always been more comfortable around 1/8...so, I guess I never noticed a problem with my Tatulas.   1/8 is fine....especially if it feels like it works better for you.

As to whether you should remove any line, I guess I wouldn't worry about it.  Probably isn't affecting casting and I can't see how it can hurt you any when reeling

You over filled the spool and it will cause lots of issues.  Strip some off and leave about 1/8 from edge.

 It's nothing to be worried about and is normal with the 1st gen Tatula. Make sure you leave about 2-3mm of space from the spool edge when you put line on.

IMO this is a design flaw with the first gen Tatulas.  The line rubs against the top of the t-wing during the retrieve, and can groove it.  The grooving can damage your line.  Two sets of grooves show up; the left side is grooved as the t-wing travels right, and the right side is grooved as the t-wing travels left. 

Putting less line on the spool will reduce the angle of the line between the t-wing and spool and should help, but will also reduce casting performance (which was the main advantage of the t-wing).

I have a first gen Tatula and haven’t had any issues yet, but it hasn’t seen many hours.  Plenty of folks have fished these heavily with no problems, so it could be a batch issue as well.  Still, there’s no reason the line should rub so hard on the t-wing.

If you have grooving, contact Daiwa and they should replace the part.

I'll have to watch it it's not a huge amount of pressure but you can definitely see the angle. I also took out my lews that is filled probably 1/16th from the edge and that actually has more Rub going on than my Tatula so maybe all reels do it just more noticeable in the tatula.

When I first got into The TWS reels I thought same as you, but after using them I think it's a Non issue IMO. And if it is a original first run TWS part and does groove Daiwa will replace it. I've put mine through their paces no issues.

It's a regular Tatula but brand new so I assume they put the new tws on it?
