Hello! I'm thinking about getting a new reel at the $100 price point so I wanted to get some suggestions.  A friend recommended the reels below, so I wanted to know if anyone has any experience with them or if they would suggest and others at the some price point or slightly (+$20) higher.

Lews Speed Spool LFS

Abu Garcia Orra SX

Let me know your thoughts.  Thank!

The venerable Ambassadeur 5500 series would be hard to beat. And you can pass it down to your grandkids. :)

Lews LFS.

Browning Superlite for $89 at BPS has been good for me so far.

I have both (Lews is previous gen, tho.)

Of the two, I prefer the Lews by a pretty wide margin.  My Orra has served me well, but needed repair after season and a half.  And even with good cleaning and repaired part(s), the Lews is better, IMHO.

I also have a few Tatulas (R and base) and I much prefer them to either the Lews or the Orra SX

Thanks for the feedback, fellas.  I'm going to look into the Tatulas as a few of you seem to have positive opinions about them.  I'll let you all know what I decide to go with.

Tatulas are solid, especially at around $100. Another option, you could get 2 Excelers for that same $100. Those are what I primarily use on my kayak. I wont lose much sleep if one goes overboard. I've got a few Tatulas too and no complaints at all other than they are a little bit larger to palm than a lot of reels out there, still, I like them a lot

You missed Gander Mountain's half price sale on the Exceler.  It is still a good option.  The LH 7.3 is $20 off.  The original Tatula is a fine reel.  I prefer the finish on the Type R plus I wanted the 8.1 ratio so the extra $30 was worth it to me.  I sold my standard at a very low price to a deserving young man.  May have to replace it with a CT.  :D

No experience with either of those two reels.  If I were you, I'd spend an extra $9 and get the Tournament MB from ebay if you decide to go with Lew's.  Has dual braking which I like a lot.  Very nice looking reel, too.

Pinnacle just doesn't get mention.  I bought a Primmus about a year ago.  It quickly became one of my favorites.  Like it well enough I bought 2 more before manventureoutpost ran out of them.  Because of this experience I wouldn't be afraid to try one of their lower cost models.  A few reviews here on bassresource.

The Okuma Cerros is a nice little reel that I've been using for awhile now. Looks sharp and performs well.

Abu Revo S is my choice. I could also add the 6.8:1 Lew's LFS.

You could take a look at the BPS Pro Qualifiers. They're built like little tanks and are great reels for the money.

LFS will get destroyed by the new Caenan! ill tell you, I had it for a few trips and I'm not happy about it. returned it and grabbed the Caenan and my goodness, I'm so stunned!

don't get fool with those bearing they advertised, Caenan has 5+1 but it retrieves like a dream for $100
