Fishin' Fool Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 A few of the bigger distributers like American Legacy Fishing and Monster Fishing Tackle have been blowing out these rods at a pretty good discount. Anybody know if they are changing out the model? For the price I just picked up a 7'6" GLX spinning rod for under $300. Thats a pretty sweet deal for that long of a rod. Quote
Cgrinder Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 Probably will see a new GLX at Icast or the next year's classic. Quote
curtis9 Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 I wonder how much of a market there is for the glx rods. Obviously the NRX has a big following, but I don't see much conversation about the glx anymore. Seems to be an in between price point theses days 1 Quote
Super User kickerfish1 Posted June 17, 2016 Super User Posted June 17, 2016 They need to rethink the GLX line. With rep sample and dealer demo pricing in play a NRX can be had for under or just slightly over $400. When they put the GLX line between $375 and $440 that doesn't leave much difference. They should consider moving the GLX price down a bit more to more of what Dobyns sells their Champion Extreme HP rods for. At that price they would likely sell more. With the minimal difference in price as it currently stands, it seems like a no brainer to get the NRX when you are already sinking that much money in a rod. Quote
mc6524 Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 I agree. IMO the IMX is still a great rod, and the GLX really doesn't add much until you go up to the NRX. Quote
Super User *Hootie Posted June 17, 2016 Super User Posted June 17, 2016 I have the NRX, GLX's, IMX's, and GL3's. Love em' all. I also have the "spinnerbait rod" although it doesn't get a lot of use these days. Rarely ever use the NRX. The GLX's are my favorite. Hootie Quote
Super User lmbfisherman Posted June 17, 2016 Super User Posted June 17, 2016 I would agree about price if I wasn't living in Canada. The GLX in my opinion is a great rod and loving them. Not sure why they don't get the love. Quote
Kidflex Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 You can also get Glx rep/demo models for a lot cheaper. In the imx price range actually. The glx is my favorite in the line up. I have them all from weibe style imx/glx to the nrx series. Quote

When I buy a NRX on sale from TW for $337 does that mean it's a demo rod? There was never an indication of that. It was sold as a new rod but for the price it makes me wonder. Quote
Super User kickerfish1 Posted June 17, 2016 Super User Posted June 17, 2016 It is my understanding that any rod used as a dealer demo or rep sample rod must be advertised and sold as such. They still have all the warranty and such of a new rod. 1 Quote

But every demo rod I bought couldve passed for new. I'd buy more nrx rods for that price. But there's something about a glx and when you set the hook. It just feels right. 1 Quote
curtis9 Posted July 8, 2016 Posted July 8, 2016 Bassmaster has a link to an I cast preview that shows a new GLX. Quote
