Opinions on Dobyns 735c (new member)

Hey sorry guys I used the search bar but there are so many topics on this rod I got a lot of mixed feed about it.So basically I'm just looking for input on the dobyns 735c rod. I'm needing a new jig rod and I'm thinking this is the one I just want to here thoughts on the rod from others before I set the hook. And if you have any other suggestions on rods around the 100 dollar Mark for 3/8 and 1/2 Oz jigs please share. Thanks guys.

Personally Id get a Daiwa Tatula through Sportman's Outfitters for $110. I have a Fury and a Tatula and as it should be the Tatula is a better rod. It's also $150 rod.

As far as model for the Tatula you're probably looking at the 7'2" MH

dobyns comes with that lifetime replacement for a small fee which is awesome.  i love my dobyns rods. i paired mine with a lews tournament mb and its an awesome combination.  i dont think you will be disappointed.  like i said im very happy with mine

Yeah either that or the 734 depending on cover, line, and which jig size you're going to throw more.

Thanks for the input guys! I'll definitely check out the old model tatula rod and see if i can get my hands on one. Really considering the 735 though because it will make a good frog rod in the summer months too.

Dobyns Champ 735 is a good all around bass rod. With that said it's a medium + or medium heavy- power rod, OK for T-rigs and light jigs, marginal for 1/2 oz+ jigs. Dobyns 734 would be a better choice IMO for jigs and or frogs.

I would also suggest a fenwick hmg rod, $99 and lifetime warranty.

No.....

The 735 is a heavier powered and faster action rod than the 734 and by all accounts a "heavy". The 735 is one of the most popular frog rods to date. The 735 is also a popular jig rod.

To answer the OP question from what I read I don't think the Fury is the rod you want for bottom techniques. If you want to get a Dobyns jump up to the Champion as recommended otherwise if you want to stick around the $100 price point I'd get the Tatula.

You should have probably specified in the title that you meant the Fury 735c. Most guys consider the 735c to be the Champion line, which is around the $250 mark. 

If you're in the $100 price range, I highly recommend the Abu Ike Series 7'2" MH jig rod. It's perfect for your application and it's what I personally use. I highly recommend it.

dont waste your time with big company BS dobyns isnt spread thin like many other companies are they specialize in rods why because its what they do not like many of the others mentions who try to specialize in rods reels clothes tackle yada yada.  look at most your good rods most guys talk about(dobyns gloomis kistler st croix)to name a few they stick with what they know.  stcroix a few years back decided to do a realya that went over well oh thats right i dont think they make one anymore garbage.  i mean when its all said and done you wouldnt take your car to a lawnmower mechanic would you lol but hey this is just my two cents

I own a dobyn champion rod and im not very impressed with it...its not a bad rod but it lacks the sensitivity.
