How good is the Daiwa Exceler 100? Gander Mountain usually sells these for $100 but they have them on sale for Father's Day for $50. I would like to get a right handed bait cast reel to go with my left handed one so that I can switch on and off and get used to casting both ways.

I don´t know why you are asking instead of getting one like ..... right now.

They are much much better than all the reels you have been asking about for the past 6 months.

Good reel. Very similar to the Lexa, also very good.

Buy with confidence, IMO.

Well, they don't have the Magforce Z cast control...just the regular Magforce, is that a big deal?

But I'm like a T-Rex...I have small thumbs...lol...j/k.

I also didn't know if I could find a better used reel for the same money in the Flea Market?

I've owned both the Daiwa lexa and exceler exe reels. I prefered the exceler over the Lexa and my friend who now owns both reels said the same thing also. The Lexa has 1 more bearing than the exceler exe reels. For $50 it's a no brainer.

This spring I upgraded 4 of my baitcasters from BPS Extremes ( which have served me well for at least 5 years ) to a bunch of Tatula and Tatula R's, but I wanted one more and it was not in the budget, so I caught the last Gander Mountain sale on Excellers.  I used it heavily (as it is on my Powel Max rod I use for throwing jigs) while on vacation on Dale Hollow lake for big smallies and largies.  It performed as well as my Tatulas did.  I would say jump up and order one or three!  Remember these reels sold for over $100 till the Tatulas and Tatula Rs came out.  By the way I have a friend that fishes at least 3 times a week and catches some huge stripers and snakeheads on these reels while targeting bass

That's a great reel. I have one I picked up when they were on sale for $60 and felt like I stole it. It performs as well as some of my other reels that I paid $200-300 for.  If they're on sale at $50 I'll probably pick up a couple more.

A daiwa exceler for that price is a must buy. I got one for 50 at academy on clearance. Very smooth reel. Feels as smooth as the tatula I have. I actually prefer it over my tatula as the thumb release is much more smooth and effortless than my tatula. Daiwa is hands down my favorite brand for casting reels.

for $50.00 you will not find a better reel , have owned 1/2 a dozen of them over the last couple  years , great performing reel , very user friendly to setup if you are newer to bait casters. i will say the only thing i feel is a absolute must have upgrade is a  set of carbontex drag washers as the stock drag is not the greatest but spend the $8-10 on that and you have a reel that is as good as reels costing easily double the money.

OP, I don't know whether to thank you or to curse you.   I need another reel like I need another hole in my head.  However, I am so tempted to get the Exceler at $50.   I am a fan of Daiwa reels and doubt you could find a better reel at this price.  Don't worry that it doesn't have Magforce Z braking.  I believe my 100HSDF and Procaster 100HN have the same Magforce braking system, and they are fine casting reels.  The 100HN sold for $70 new and I got mine on closeout for $30.  A steal.  Nice solid reel.  Buy one and don't look back.

EDIT:  Let's see if this site will accept this link.  A review of the Exceler.
