AustinHellickson Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 What reel would you guys get under $50? I'm looking to get one. Quote
Super User Darren. Posted June 10, 2016 Super User Posted June 10, 2016 I've had tremendous experience with Shimano's, Austin. But there are some very good reels from Pflueger, Okuma, Daiwa and others you could look at. If you can get into a Bass Pro, or other store, get your hands on a bunch of them and see what fits your hands best, and feels good to you. 1 Quote
Super User MIbassyaker Posted June 10, 2016 Super User Posted June 10, 2016 I would get a Pflueger Trion, about $40 new. 2 Quote
bralexander Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 I'm with Darren on this one. For budget reels, shimano has always been the best for me. I have a Sienna 1000 size that is super smooth and problem free along with some other even lower end shimanos that are great. Right now you can get the Sienna for under $35 and spend the rest of your budget on some nice braid! Bruce 2 Quote
Sheepdog1984 Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 I just got a Pflueger President from this guy for only $45.99 It arrived brand new and in two days. Looks like he has two left. http://www.ebay.com/itm/262472595526 3 Quote
blckshirt98 Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 I'd probably find a Shimano Sedona on sale! 1 Quote

Chance_Taker4 Posted June 11, 2016 Posted June 11, 2016 I must say Pflueger President for sure. 2 Quote

Rob96 Posted June 12, 2016 Posted June 12, 2016 I have a Cabela's Eagle Tournament II and a Shimano Sienna 2500 FD. Both nice smooth reels. Quote
Mr Swim Jig Posted June 12, 2016 Posted June 12, 2016 Really hard to beat the Pflueger President spinning reel... 1 Quote
dsqui Posted June 12, 2016 Posted June 12, 2016 wow i cant believe no one said anything about lews. Ive been fishing lews reels now for about 8 years and wouldn't consider buying anything else. i haven't had a single problem with them yet and none of my spinning reels are over 80. im sure if u dont need it today and can wait and post in classifieds you might even find a nicer(higher end model) for a reasonable price 1 Quote
edfitzvb Posted June 12, 2016 Posted June 12, 2016 I have several spinning reels. I have Lew's, several Shimanos, Mitchell, and Pflueger. FOR THE MONEY Pflueger is the best buy. I primarily use bait casting reels, but I would reach for the Pflueger as quickly as any spinning reel in my arsenal. The Shimano Saros is the highest end spinning reel at around 150 or so, so I don't have the higher end Shimano reels, but that is not the price range the OP was shopping in, anyway. Pflueger President Quote
Super User Crestliner2008 Posted June 12, 2016 Super User Posted June 12, 2016 Hard to beat a Pflueger President. 2 Quote
Dan_the_fisher Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 All I own are shimanos, but for that price range I'd go president all day. Shimanos cheaper reels never done it for me Quote
wnspain Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 My Pflueger President is an amazing workhorse that delivers trouble free fishing ... if mine was stolen, I'd buy another tomorrow. 2 Quote
Brett's_daddy Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 Another vote for the Pflueger President, you can get a 6930 size on Jet.com for $43 when you use the "triple15" code to get the extra 15% off and it's free shipping. I also have a Lew's Carbonfire size 30 HS reel and like it very much...got that at Dicks Sporting Goods on clearance for $25 but the new model that replaced it is selling new for $49.99. Either of those reels would work well for you. 2 Quote
Onvacation Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 I fish Lew's baitcasters and Shimano spinning reels. My wife has a. Pflueger Supreme XT and my daughter has a President. In your price range, I'd take a serious look at the President. It may not be as refined as the Supreme XT or my Shimanos, but it will get the job done and put a smile on your face. 1 Quote
TX-Deluxe Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 If picked up a Phluger President Limited Edition 40 size. I love it more than any spincast real I have ever used. Quote
