papajoe222 Posted June 12, 2016 Posted June 12, 2016 . 10 hours ago, yosef said: what kind of map is he using and where can you get them for different lakes...sorry if its a dumb question It's called a topography map, or topo map for sort. The ones he shows appear to be Fishing Hot Spots. Each line on the map indicates a change of depth the amount of which is shown in the 'legend'. The closer the lines are together, the faster the depth increases. You can do a web search for whatever lake you're interested in and likely view a map of it online. The actual maps can also be purchased online and at some of the local tackle or bait shops. One thing I'm going to mention here and it may be obvious to many here, is he is highlighting potential spawning areas. You always need to take seasonal movements into consideration when looking at maps. For instance, the areas he highlighted aren't areas you would be looking fo during the winter. Quote
Kingston_Ontario_Fishing Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 I have a new lowrance Chartplotter/GPS/Sonar and i am able to create my own maps by logging my sonar. Really shed some light on what is under the water that we never see. Humps/Shelves/Edges that can hold fish. If your lake is not too big or you fish regular spots it can be a great tool. Its called insight genesis. Quote
Super User scaleface Posted July 14, 2016 Super User Posted July 14, 2016 I wouldnt follow these instructions . Those big old bass are going to follow the 50 foot deep channels . In some lakes I guess . Quote
B1gD4ddy Posted July 17, 2016 Posted July 17, 2016 His vids are ok when his focus is on teaching about fishing and lures.. he does underwater footage to show how things work but also has vid's on blowing stuff up, he is a daily vlogger so you get what you get.. I have found him informative and since I'm new I can use all the infood and insight I can get such as how to find the fish on new lakes.. good post, I had already watched this but never hurts seeing things more then one time Quote
