It's a good idea for all bass fishermen to know how to identify snake species, especially native species of snakes.

I agree with you 100%! I understand many people hate snakes because they fear them, but snakes shouldn't be hated.Snakes are a important part of the ecosystem. They eat rodents, insects, and other critters.I might be part of a small group of fishermen by saying this, but I enjoy seeing snakes where I fish.

Indeed. It means the ecosystem is working
as it should.

same here!

Even though i thoroughly enjoy blowing a fat @55 cottonmouth into smithereens, I do like seeing them and think they are pretty.

I'm out of the line of fire this time. But I hate snakes.

I was logging an area where I was told to get the job finished before the spring thaw or get out. The place is wall to wall copperheads. I gotter done while the snow cover was still on.

Here in Northeastern PA we have an annual event called "The Noxen Rattle Snake Round Up". Its held in Noxen PA to help support the Noxen Fire Company. Its this weekend and I just came back from it with some pics. These people actually catch rattle snakes and bring them back to weight, measure and sex (and you thought your job was horrible) them for fun. They then release them into the pen they are standing in (huh?) and proceed to act as if the deadly snakes aren't slithering 5 feet from them. Its an interesting site. Here's some pics.

Here are some more pics of the people with snakes.
