Super User Senko lover Posted June 7, 2016 Super User Posted June 7, 2016 I like the Spro Bronzeyes the best, but haven't branched out much with other brands. Quote
loudcherokee Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 I don't often buy hollow body frogs, but when I do, it's a Livetarget. That or whatever MTB sends me lol. LC Quote
Big bass hunter Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 I like snag proof frogzilla i take the rubber legs off and add rubber skirt legs to make it even bigger and and more plastic beads for more sound as well add small suction cups to the eyelet if i want it a poppin frog. Havent tried manns goliath frog yet but will do if live target made a magnum size hollow body frog that would be my go to Quote

GoRavens Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 I'm a fan of my bully wa's. Haven't tried live target though. I can walk my pad crashers but not as easily as my bully wa or bully wa 2. 1 Quote
MDbassin Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 River 2 Sea spittin wa..... All the spros I've used fill with water easier/faster then all the others 1 Quote
Super User the reel ess Posted June 10, 2016 Super User Posted June 10, 2016 Here's a least fav: The frog that has realistic looking legs. Y'all know the one whose name won't show up on this site. I've been told by a few people to give it another try before I condemn it. I tried it again last night. Bites are not the problem with this bait.I got 3 bites on it and no hookups. And it lost a leg! It was waterlogged on the second cast. Looking online, I see the price on them has come down quite a bit since I overpaid for mine. I tied on the Pad Crasher and immediately started catching those fish and continued to catch them until dark. Quote

BassThumb Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 Best frog: Snag Proof Ish's Phat Frog. Best value: Booyah Pad Crasher. 1 Quote
Jaderose Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 Scumfrog followed by Pad Crasher followed by Live Target. If you can't get a bass to hit this in the muck..go home. I don't trim the legs, I don't modify the hooks. I just fish the h*ll out of them. They make a distinct *plop* when the hit the water that has caused more blow-ups than I can remember. 1 Quote
desmobob Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 I started frog fishing with the original Scum Frog. It's cheap and it works, but it's light and can be tough to cast. I tried the Scum Frog Trophy Series Frog and have been very happy with it. Every time I pick up one of the more expensive frogs in the tackle store, I think back on how many Scum Frogs I've lost to pike... LOTS! I like the lower price of the Scum Frog! I'm curious about the other popular brands and this thread will give me some ideas on which ones to try. Thanks to the OP for starting the thread! Tight lines, Bob Quote

MisplacedTexan99 Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 I have fished spros since they came out and I love them but recently the booyah pad crasher has been my fancy. If the livetarget ones with a black bottom were more readily available they would probably be my go to but I can't seem to find them. Quote
Jaderose Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 I'm curious about all you guys that talk about how well this or that frog walks. Why are you walking these baits? To me....(and I'm certainly no expert but am pretty darn good with a frog)...these are slop baits. If I want to walk the dog, I pull out a Spook or Sexy Dawg 1 Quote

If I want to walk the dog, I pull out a Spook or Sexy Dawg well for me, they look like a frog to you and i, but from the underside and from a fish's perspective they look like prey. could be fish, frog, whatever. i'll often throw them into thick cover (grass, laydown, pads, etc.) but once they get out of that mess i'll walk them back to me and catch plenty of them doing so. this little dude wanted the spro popper on the "walk" this weekend. 1 Quote

Fair enough. I notice you got a poppin frog on there. I guess I view frogs a little different. I'll throw a frog into anything. The heaviest, nastiest stuff and that is pretty much only what I use them for. When I get to the end of the slop, I'll bounce it a few times and give it a little work but then I just reel back for another cast. I've tried walking them back but never had any luck so I stopped 2 Quote

As long as they aren't super shredded, you can get quite a bit more use out of them. The Booyah Pad Crasher is my favorite frog. I only buy others if I can get them on sale, with the exception of a certain color Spro that I've had a lot of success on. Quote

It's like the best of both worlds: a weedless floater that walks the dog. 1 Quote

The advantage to a frog that walks, other than the obvious action, is the bait is moving and getting a fish's attention without moving far. If a fish strikes in an open pocket, the odds of a hookup are much higher. 2 Quote
