Fogle12 Posted June 6, 2016 Posted June 6, 2016 I am sure there will be many different answers but i was looking into buying a new reel and wanted to know some opinions on reels under $200 Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted June 6, 2016 Global Moderator Posted June 6, 2016 Of the ones I have in that range, I like the Curado I Mike 1 Quote
Basseditor Posted June 6, 2016 Posted June 6, 2016 Yes, there will be many opinions. Foe me the two I like and depending upon use, are Lews LITE and Cabelas Archnid. Quote
Yudo1 Posted June 6, 2016 Posted June 6, 2016 Lews tournament pro g, daiwa tatula CT type r, shimano curado 70 and curado I. Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted June 6, 2016 Super User Posted June 6, 2016 Ohio Bassin's reel, Okuma Helios Air, Pinnacle Primmus and Lew's Pro Z. Some sell for over your $200, but I paid less for all except the Pro Z which was at your limit. Lots of very nice reels in that price range. My favorite is usually the one I have in hand at that time. From reviews I've read Pflueger's Patriarch and Supreme XT are both pretty nice. For a lot less you can add Lew's Tournament MB. I'd add some Shimano's to my list, but have no experience with the newest models, and there will be plenty of others singing their praise. Quote
Super User lmbfisherman Posted June 6, 2016 Super User Posted June 6, 2016 The Curado I series for me! But most reels at that price are pretty competitive. Quote
Super User Jeff H Posted June 6, 2016 Super User Posted June 6, 2016 I think any of the Daiwa Tatula models (Cabela's Arachnid included) represent some hard to beat value and performance. Quote
Super User kickerfish1 Posted June 6, 2016 Super User Posted June 6, 2016 I purchased my Alphas SV 105 for under $200 from Japan. I would say it ranks up there with the best of them. The Curado I in the 70 size or the new Tatula CT would also be contenders for me. Quote
S. Sass Posted June 6, 2016 Posted June 6, 2016 I think you can get any of the Lew's in that price range and be completely satisfied. Lew's has a good reputation and I like their reels. Any of the BB series reels, Lew's Tournament Pro G, Superduty, Superduty Lite, or Superduty Wide should be able to fix you up for that price. 1 Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted June 6, 2016 Posted June 6, 2016 At that price point you can't go wrong among any of the name brands. Performance and durability are there it comes down to the features you prefer. 1 Quote

Get to a tackle store so you can play with some of them and decide what one you like best. I have Lew's, Shimano, Okuma, Pinnacle, Daiwa, and Pfluegar. All are nice reels and have their own quirks and qualities. Quote
