Hi all, I'm new to the site so I'm sorry if this has been brought up before. I did a search and didn't see anything already posted. Anyway, just curious if anybody colors their senkos with sharpie to customize them? Personally I like a black or silver tip on my senkos. The only problem is the sharpie never seems to dry on them. Any ideas I should try? Thanks.

Have you looked into the spike it markers? If they have the color you are looking for I would go that route.

Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~

Sharpies are Not the answer for coloring soft plastics - they smudge, and schemer and turn your baits into a bit of a mess.

As Smallieseeker mentioned above, Spike-it markers & dip are decent.

But with the rather ridiculous number of colors & patterns GYBC offers in the Senko line - there has to be at least one color you'd get bit on . . .

:)

I would go with the dip, it seems to work well for me, or I just find a color of senko that I want with the tips already colored

I have looked into Spike-It but didn't notice a silver color. I think I saw black though so I could try that. I have about 40 different bags of senko style 5" worms, all different brands and colors. 90% of the time I just wacky rig, I love it. Just kinda wanted to experiment a bit with customizing. I have a lot of success with the YUM black red flake with a silver tip. I wanted to add a silver tip to some of the others.

they don't have black or silver that i know of, but JJ's magic dye is FAR better than a sharpie on soft plastics.  as A jay said, that sharpie will smear, smudge and fade in no time.

I'd really, really like to find a silver dye. I will try some of these other ones in the meantime though. Thanks everyone for the input. I just wish there was a way to cure the metallic silver sharpie onto the soft plastics.

Use mend it and make your own with the existing senko colors.

I've never used mend it before, just recently heard of it actually. You're suggesting mixing something silver into the mend it, or sharpie the senko then put mend it over the top of that?

Get some silverish senkos and then some in the primary colors you like to fish. Cut the ends off the senkos and frankenstein them together with mend it. Itll take 2 senkos to make 1, but if you use both parts of both senkos youll end up with 2. One with a silver tip and a silver with a tip. Ill try to find a youtube vid on it. Not sure if its what youre looking for, just thought id throw it out there

Here ya go

TackleW. Has 81 colors of senkos available, ghost shad looks good

That's a good idea, thanks! I actually have some Big Bite gray/silver ones I could play around with. Now I'll just have to order some Mend-It.

Sharpies do work. i tryed a black red flake with a neon tail, and the fish wernt biting. What i did was dry of my senko. Blowdry it. Then color it with a normal black sharpie. Blowdry it again, then put it in a bowl of ice cold water. Wrap it in a towl and squeez, then put it back in the ice bucket eith garlic and salt. I also put some glue from a stick on it and sprinkled some blue glitter on and washed it and squeezed it in a towel. I havnt used it on the water yet but they look great.
