Another loading question

I use my deep V 16' for fishing some lakes that allow electric motors only.  Mine electric is on the bow.  Currently I either pull it to the trailer with the bow line, or I take a run at the trailer and pull up the motor to coast on and strap it.  There must be more efficient methods, any ideas?

You could always use a paddle! LOL! just kidding!

If you can only use the trolling motor then that's about the best way to go about it!

Surely you could fire up the big motor to push it on.  Are they really strict about it?  Is there someone you could ask about it?

If not, I guess getting a running start and pulling the motor up is the best.  I can't think of another way.

Use a rope like a block and tackle. attach one end of rope to the winch line then run it trough a pulley that can be hooked in the eye of the boat and back to the winch post. When you wind in the winch line the pulley should decrease the load and take up twice the distance of the length of rope used. Attach a ski rope float to the pulley so it will float. Before you back up the trailer to load the boat lay the rope down the length of the trailer. Back the trailer in. Grab the floating pulley and attach it to the boat. Pull the boat onto the trailer as far as possible with the motor then raise. Take up the slack in the end of rope attached back to the winch post. Reel in the winch line about 6 foot give or take. Disconnect rope and pulley - store until next trip. Hook back up the winch line and hook it to the boat. You could put a walk board on the trailer to walk on.  I think this should work for loading in low water also.  You may want to wet down the bunk rails or spray with silicone.

I'm glad I'm not the only one with this problem  I finally decided to put an electric on the back as well.  It does, however, seem kind of silly to have a motor on your boat only for the purpose of getting out of the water :

Ckiller, an advantage I have is, here in Arizona the water never get too cold to walk in. LOL

Ha! Good point. I don't mind it so much from June through September. The rest of the year I do the "trailer tongue tight rope." I'm successful about 98% of the time. That sounds pretty good, but on average I fish about twice a week, so I do get wet occassionally ;D

The trailor tongue tight rope ;D I like that. I wish I had a dollar fro every time I busted my but doing that. Makes for great boat ramp comedy when its someone else.

I'm glad to see some one else has the same problem as well.  I just get a running start with the trolling motor and walk the tonge.  I tried firing up the motor once to put the boat on the trailer, I'll never do that again.  It cost me 500.00 bucks.  When they say elec. only thats what they mean.  I can't even have my motor down while trolling. That will cost you 250.00 bucks if caught.

the reservoir I live on is the back up to our main reservoir.  It is landowner access only and electric motor only.  As far  as dropping motor for one quick second to push boat up,.......That'll get youy arrested here!  Can't even have a gas motor on the boat, never mind in the water.

i know the trolling motor on the back just for getting on and off the trailer seems dumb, but all the electric lakes i fish in it is quite common. some people have 2 and 3 motors on the back and one on the front to steer. the back motor comes in handy on many occassions

Just wade when the water is warm & use a pair of boots when the water gets cold.
