ftownangler Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 Hey guys, just wanted to toss this out there to see what you all are using out there. I'm pretty new into bass fishing and this forum. Trying to find my first Baitcaster rod and reel, hoping to keep it anywhere between $100 and $150. Thanks for any feedback! Quote
Aloff10 Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 Well it's pretty hard to spend only $100-$150 on only a rod and reel but my suggestion would be the Lew's Speed Spool LFS Series Casting Reel and the Lew's American Hero Speed Stick Casting Rod. It is $170 combined but they are one of the best lower priced reel and rod on the market. 1 Quote
halfpint33 Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 I use the Abu Garcia Black Max combo and really like them. Only about $70 for the rod/reel combo. Quote
Super User Chris at Tech Posted June 4, 2016 Super User Posted June 4, 2016 In that price range, I think BPS combos are worth a look. 3 Quote
CarolinaBoy4Life Posted June 5, 2016 Posted June 5, 2016 In that price range check out the BPS Pro Qualifier combo. The carbonlite is a heck a rod and the PQ is a great reel as well. Have multiple of these setups myself and love them Quote
Mark888 Posted June 5, 2016 Posted June 5, 2016 Shimano sellus is pretty nice for the price ($50-$60), and you can find a Daiwa tatula for about 100$ on eBay. Thats the combo i would recommend! Some Bps combos are pretty good too. Quote
DCales84 Posted June 5, 2016 Posted June 5, 2016 Lews Lfs Speed Spool from the big auction site for $80 and a Berkley Shock rod of your choice from your local WalMart. Will set you back $120 and you can use the other cash for decent line. Abu Garcia's Black Max is a decent reel for $40... its not the same class as the Lews but it gets the job done nicely. I have recently added one that I use when kayaking the local rivers. I tend to prefer putting my money into better reels over rods. Quote
