Well, Sunday I was at Field and Stream and spotted the new second generation Mojos. Bait Monkey grabbed my wallet and the rod and headed for the check out. I have fished this rod for the last two days. This rod is "AWESOME". The difference between this rod and the first generation Mojos is night and day. Do I need another one? Decided I didn't need to spend the extra on a avid x. Needless to say I like my new avid x lol, baitmonkey got me bad. If it wasn't purple I may have gave it a go. 1 Quote

Its nothing like you described, its actually the opposite. Yes its slightly on the heavy side (its not heavy at all, its just ever so slightly heavier than comparative rods), its sensitive, balanced and it fishes real well...But I will say the 2nd gen is much better with the SC3 blank which is the exact blank the Avid is which we all know the Avids are fantastic. Id be willing to say that the new Mojo Bass rods are the very best rod you can buy for $130 I also own a Mojo Bass Glass crankster rod and it is hands down my favorite crankbait rod Ive ever owned Quote

Mine still fish just fine no breaks no failure of any kind. True they are not the latest or even the next to the latest greatest innovations in fishing rods. But considering these rods were designed over 8 years ago and the speed of technology over the past 8 years I would say they were quite a step up from what was then available on the market as a value-priced bass rod. For those of us who want a better rod than 98% of what Walmart sells without spending a lot of cash these were a step in the right direction. I'm not saying they are perfect, not even going to try and imply they are great. Just stating considering the 8+yr old design they were/are quite a decent rod. There are a whole lot of worse rods out there. Just have to decide if the glass is 1/2 full or 1/2 empty. As far as the new Gen 2 version I'm glad they are looking promising. I will be hoping to get a couple of new rods in the near future maybe Mojo Bass rods. 3 Quote

I would never spend a $100 bucks on anything just because someone else likes it. My preferences are based strictly on my experiences. It's all fishing, it's all fun. Now, that's the name of the game. tstraub Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 I don't own one but my father in law has a mojo bass and I've fished it a few times. Not sure if it's the new model or first gen. It was new to him this spring but I suppose it could be last year's model. It's purple if that makes a difference. He loves it and the boat never leaves the dock without it. It's probably the nicest rod I've ever used. But my rods are mostly Shakespeare, and Berky grade rods so I would not know how it feels compared to the high end stuff. 1 Quote
Grantman83 Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 I've owned several of the old version and the only one which truly felt heavy and unbalanced and not worry the money was the frog rod. That thing was heavy, tip heavy and a broomstick. The plastics and cranking rod were a good buy. I can only assume the upgrade rod is even better 1 Quote

The crankster was one of my favorite cranking sticks and I regret selling it. The 6'6" is the rod I didn't like at all. I may have just picked the wrong model. I knew I was going to be getting a new one to replace my 1st gen that I snapped last year. I haven't decided if I'm just getting one rod this year or if I'm going to order a 2nd one as well. Onvacation Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 I got one for my wife for her birthday. She has the 6'10" mlxf. I got an opportunity to toss it a few times when she was asking me to verify her opinion that the ABU Garcia Revo S I also got her, needed to be replaced. (It did and it was). I even managed to catch a one pounder on a t rigged worm. I liked the rod quite a bit and it kind of has me second guessing my plan to spend more money on the next rod. 1 Quote
