Unbelievable Catch

Caught this tonight on a weedless frog!

PB bullfrog? 

 

It always amazes me how aggressive those things are, I've caught a few that I tossed some t-rigged worms to just for laughs. You don't even have to hook them, they latch on hard.

I wonder if anyone here has ever hooked a bullfrog on a hollow belly frog, and then had a bass attack the frog while reeling them in, and landed the bass. That would be something.

Never caught a bullfrog on a hollow belly frog, but did catch one once on a Hula Popper, in frog pattern of course.

If you have much experience with bullfrogs it's not unbelievable at all. They're a nuisance at one of the ponds I fish. I can't hardly finish, or sometimes even start, a retrieve with a frog before I have one in hot pursuit. They're super aggressive and dumb as a post. I've had them eat a bait, unhook them and toss them back, just to have them eat the bait again next time it came by. It's really bad when I don't see them and just see or hear the splash back in the weeds when I'm fishing a frog. I've had a couple about get sent into orbit on the hookset. I had one jump on the back of a Spro Rat fishing it along a grassy shoreline once, thankfully he didn't get the hooks.

This. The ponds I fish usually have a lot of bullfrogs in the summer and they can be amusing and a nuisance as well. I've caught a number of them chasing a lure and they always seem to go for the topwater frogs if they get close.

At some of the ponds i fish the bullfrogs are on the frog every cast sometimes 2 or 3 will be going after it

Frog on frog violence! I have had this same catch multiple times as well. Like Bluebasser86 said, in the right situation it can be a "wide open" frog ON the frog bite!

They stuff the worm in their mouths with both hands . I see them and purposely throw the worm  several feet away . Then crawl it slowly along the bank . They go for it every time.  I have yet to see a bullfrog let a plastic worm , lizard ...go by .

There is a pond a few miles from me that I fish sometimes. If I use a black Spro I will have 3 or 4 bullfrogs after it.

Agreed.  Bullfrogs are very territorial.

Looking at the size of the HBF vs the size of the actual frog i'd say Strike King, Spro, Scum, and Livetarget need to come out with a DOUBLE XL version of a hollow body. Imagine the bass that would eat that size bullfrog... Easy 10lber!

Well...being honest, I'd cast it back out like that. Nature's free fishing lure.

I've never seen a bass eat a bullfrog, and there's lots of bullfrogs around here. I've used them for bait multiple times, catfish and turtles are the only thing that ever eat them in my experience. I've also noticed that if there's lots of bullfrogs on the weeds I'm fishing, there's almost never any bass, not that are eating anyways.
