Fuego Lefthand retrieve

So I received the reel I ordered but it came in with a left hand retrieve instead of right hand. Are there any righties out there who use a left hand retrieve. If so any issues?  Really did not want to lose a couple weeks before the correct model comes in. ?

You'll do yourself a massive favour if you learn to use a left hand retrieve baitcaster. No swapping hands or mucking about. No downside, other than a slightly more limited range of reels in left hand wind. Once you get used to it you will not understand why everyone doesn't do it!

I'm right handed and I use only left hand reels.  IMO you got the correct side, especially if you're used to spinning reels with the handle on the left side.

I use lefty baitcasters and am right handed.  Give it a whirl.

X4.  Grew up using spinning reels with handle on the left.  Had to teach myself to cast left handed so I wouldn't miss out on any good deals.    Still not that good casting with the left.  Cranking with the right was never a problem.   Often I cast with the right no matter which side the handle is on.

My reels are about half and half.

Some prefer it and some don't. It's all about what is comfortable to you. I can use both since I started using casting reels with the handle on the right side. I switched to LH reels about a year in since I grew up with the handle on the left side on my spinning rod. To me it makes more sense to hold the rod with your stronger and more coordinated hand. I'll still practice doing things like pitching and short casts with my left side just so I have the ability to use both if the situation calls for it.

I'm right handed, my spinning reel handles are on the left side, and so are my baitcaster handles.  There used to be no/little left handed baitcasting options but now they have so many options it's a no-brainer.  I think a lot of RH people use/learned to use RH baitcasters because they had no alternative.

I have always used both lefties and right handed baitcasting reels and here is why.  I use right handed reels for techniques that I cast out and just retrieve like swimbaits, spinnerbaits, crankbaits etc.  For things that i cast out and impart action with the rod such as jigs,carolina rigs,frogs and plastics, I prefer to use my dominant hand (right hand) on the rod and use my left hand to just pick up line.  When you cast say a jig along a downed tree, for example, you are ready to fish that bait right away without switching hands.  I am a mechanic by trade and have used and abused my hands for my whole career. By changing it up it also helps me avoid hand cramps during long fishing days as well.  Just my two cents.

I'm opposite. I am a lefty and use RH reels. That way my dominate hand is setting the hook and my other hand is just reeling. That would be the same as a righty using a LH reel. I tried the whole cast and switch hands and don't understand why people do it.
