So this weekend I made a dumb decision and decided to leave my rods and reels on the deck of my uncles boat overnight. I came back the next morning to find that my week old Shimano Casitas was stolen. I only had it for a week but it seemed like a pretty solid reel. I know some of you might consider it a "budget reel" but being only 14, $120 isn't cheap by any means. Well, to get to my question, I was wondering if I should just buy another casitas or maybe try out a another company. Any recommendations on reels in the $100-$150 range or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry to hear that.  Thieves are just dirt bags.  Did they steal anything else? You could get a critical I or curado I if you are a fan of Shimano.  They both are a considerable upgrade over the Casitas.

Yeah.  Thieves are scum bags.  Hard lesson to learn, but the hard way is about the only way I ever learn.  :(  If it doesn't have to be Shimano, I'd look at the original Tatula for approximately $95 on ebay.

For some reason they only stole that one reel. Thanks for the suggestion. It seems that would be a safe purchase considering on how many people like them.

True that, man. I was checking out the Tatula. If I get another Daiwa it would be the that reel, the Tatula CT or maybe the Fuego.

The fuego is on sale at American legacy for $78 (retails $130).

Lews Speed Spool LFS is also a pretty good reel for $100. I have one and love it.

I have that reel and it really is a great reel for the money.
