FishingMcD Posted May 31, 2016 Posted May 31, 2016 I was out at the lake today hoping to reel in a few hogs and they wouldn't bite! There was a 7 pounder just chillin next to a log maybe 5 feet from the shore and she wouldn't go after my senko, spinner or crankbait. There was 2 of those today that I saw. I also saw another maybe 2.5 pounder who was very active and was eating from a school of minnows or something very very small and I tried on him but he'd just look at my bait and swim away, he wasnt interested in the red worm my little sister had on either. I did catch a few very small bass but these big ones won't bite! Any suggestions? Thank you. Quote
Wildbillb Posted May 31, 2016 Posted May 31, 2016 Did you try backing away and casting from distance? They could have saw you and that may have kept them from biting. 1 Quote
Super User Catt Posted May 31, 2016 Super User Posted May 31, 2016 There will be times when the bass are feeding on live bait that they will not touch a lure. Your lure was giving off too many negative clues! 1 Quote
Super User the reel ess Posted May 31, 2016 Super User Posted May 31, 2016 The big ones usually don't bite. It's how they got big. I've read that bass only have a 20 minute memory. When you spook one, jut keep going and come back a little later in stealth mode with a light lure like a weightless Trick Worm. 2 Quote
BareHook Posted May 31, 2016 Posted May 31, 2016 Try creature baits, lizard or craw, sounds like she is nesting 2 Quote
YoTone Posted May 31, 2016 Posted May 31, 2016 weightless swim bait paused in his line of sight with slight twitches? 1 Quote
CDMeyer Posted May 31, 2016 Posted May 31, 2016 Whenever the fishing gets hard for me I go to finesse. Try to go out with a smaller and more subtle presentation. 1 Quote
FishingMcD Posted May 31, 2016 Author Posted May 31, 2016 I don't think she was spawning. It was right off a steep ledge off a fishing jetty. She was just chillin behind a log. Could be wrong. Quote
FishHard247 Posted May 31, 2016 Posted May 31, 2016 If you can see them, they can see you. Probably went on alert. 1 Quote
