I have a HumminBird 170 fish locator.  It always worked fine until last year.  Now when I turn it on it says that the transducer is not connected (I have made sure it is) I then tab over past simulator mode to "set-up ".  It then goes to the screen where you would normally have it.  The screen remains blank all but where the temperature is.  It gives the temperature and does it accurately as I have compared it to my other fish locator on the boat.  The only other display on the screen is the line at top showing you it is reading..... where the bottom contour should be there is absolutely nothing.  I know the screen is not damaged there because when you go to simulator mode everything works just fine.  I was wondering if anybody would be able to help me?  Thank you in advance.

It looks like your transducer is bad.

Even tho it still reads temp?

The transducer does not read the water temp. There is a separate thermistor built into the transducer housing that senses water temperature.

Does the cable going from the transducer to the fish finder have male pins where it plugs into the head? Check to make sure the pins are not bent over (or corroded).
