New bass angler needing advise

I'm a new angler for bass and I am just wanting to know some tips and tricks to catch more bass. Baits, lures, line... I'm in western Washington if you know of any good spots. What do I look for in cover? I'm getting a canoe and fishing mainly slightly murky water. Thanks.

If you don't already have a rod get a 6"6 to 7 foot medium spinning rod. For line you could get 10 pound mono or 15-20 # braid with a leader of you fish clear water. I would get a top water bait like a frog or spook, a spinnerbait or chatter bait. Also, get a pack of zoom trick worms and zoom ole monsters, as well as some berkely pit bosses for heavy cover. I would get gamakatsu 3/0 and 5/o ewg hooks. I would also get 3/16 oz. lead weights and 1/2 tungsten weights. Look for structure. Zoom ole monsters are a top producer in the summer for me?Those are what work for me in the south, so I'm sure they'll work in Washington to. Where I live in the south right now It's 90 degrees which is basically summer. In the summer fish heavy cover, deep structure, and SHADE. Good luck!

When I fishing cover I look for small or big difference s.  When you pull up on cover it's very easy to be overwhelmed by all the same cover. So I look for difference in the cover, maybe an open hole or a indent or point. Cast to those areas thoroughly

Keep it real simple, a few top water baits and a few plastics.

15lb test floro, a little more expensive but well worth the investment IMO.

Its hard to beat a Rebel Pop-R for its simplicity and effectiveness in dingy dirty water, or almost any top water situation IMO and it won't break the bank.

If you have heavy vegetation then pick up some frogs.

Spotted vegetation and grass I would add another suggestion to the previous posts, the Zoom ultra vibe speed worm, it's great for swimming on top but also comes through cover and dives into thick grassy areas with little to no hang ups.

Creature baits and worms for clear or clearer waters on sunny days, watermelon candy, watermelon red, pumpkin colored or plum colored baits, for sunny days and dirtier waters, black with some high viz glitter, blues and reds are good.

Overcast days and clear waters, a more natural presentation, green pumpkin with maybe some purple color accents, overcast and dingy water Junebug and also blacks with high viz flake.

One thing that has helped me early. If you walk up to the edge of the water and can see the bottom in 2 feet of water, then choose natural looking lure colors, browns, tans, greens. If its murky, choose dark colors or black, even black and blue together. Also, on clear stuff, lighter line, 6 to 8 pound flurocarbon.

Look up wacky rigging senkos...that's changed up my fishing life lol buddy and I just pulled 22 bass on a wacky rigged junebug senko yesterday. We fish heavily fished waters so those numbers are hard to come by!

I have a Lews BB1 Pro Series Speed Spool, I just cleaned it the other day. I cleaned out the oil from the worm gear, spool bearing, and the main drive shaft and it is nowhere near as smoothe as it was before i cleaned it. Any advice on troubleshooting it?
