Eric Peterson Posted May 29, 2016 Posted May 29, 2016 I recently came across one of the Snagproof bleeding frogs with attitude in my local clearance bin. I bought one because I was intrigued with the idea of having a Trailer hook on the back of the frog. My hook up ratio is considerably bad so I wanted to try it. I fished it though slop and it was surprisingly weedless. My hookup ratio went up greatly. I'm wondering how many others put trailer hooks on their frogs? Quote
bigturtle Posted May 29, 2016 Posted May 29, 2016 my cover frogs can't have exposed hooks, and my open water frogs are rigged with a single exposed hook so no trailer needed. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted May 29, 2016 Global Moderator Posted May 29, 2016 No way I could throw that where I fish a frog. What is a "considerably bad" hookup ratio? What rod/reel/line are you using? It's possible that's where the issue is. Since I've got the right setup for it, I'm at about 75-80 percent hookups on hollow body frogs, it makes a huge difference. tander Posted May 29, 2016 Posted May 29, 2016 Like others have said, there is no way I could thrown a frog with a trailer in the lily pads I fish, However, if you just throwing it on a clear bank, not a bad idea. Quote
TxHawgs Posted May 29, 2016 Posted May 29, 2016 That's the lake fork tackle hook I believe. I have been meaning to pick some up since I've been throwing my frog in stuff that's not that bad. I don't know how they fish frogs on such long rods. I prefer a 6 9 to keep the tip out of the water when walking it. Quote
