I've had a lot of luck recently throwing a SK Pro Model 1XS - Chartreuse w/ black back. I had 2 of them that I ordered from TW a while back. I lost one and let a buddy use the other, and now I'm out. Not sure if SK stopped making this model, but I can't seem to find it in this color anywhere except eBay, and guys are wanting at least 15 bucks for them. I'll pay if I have to, but I'm just wondering if you guys either 1-Know where I can find this model in this color or 2-Know of a brand other than SK who make an extra shallow running crankbait similar to the Series 1XS. I'm looking to throw this thing from the bank parallel and very close to the bank, and the KVD 1.0 and the 1.5 Shallow Runners dive just a hair too deep. Any input is greatly appreciated

Might look at the storm arashi waking crank and the yammamoto chickara wake bait. Both are available at tackle warehouse and come in the chartreuse black back. Also if the lucky craft lc wake if you want something a little different.

I have used the SK 1XS and let me tell you, if you throw a Mann's Baby 1 Minus you'll quickly forget about the Strike King. There is also the Yo-Zuri 3DS SSR which TW sells as the 3DS Wake bait, it is a 1/4oz bait that does wake but when reeled at a moderate pace will dive about 8" to 10", that to is a killer bait. If you want a larger body bait you can go Mann's Mid 1 minus or the large regular 1 Minus, and then you have the Rapala DT Fat 1, there are some really good shallow divers that get great results, I agree the SK 1XS is a good bait but don't limit yourself, you'll be surprised at what you find.

Strike King makes a crankbait called the "Shallow Runner" which is the KVD 1.5 with either rattles/no-rattles that's designed to run 0-3 feet which is shallower than the 1.0, it's almost like a subsurface wake bait.  I only just saw these at the local Bass Pro Shops for the first time so don't think they're carried widely.  Search Bass Pro Shops for "shallow runner", or, it looks like Tackle Warehouse carries them but they call them the "KVD HC Shallow Squarebill".  Lip design might not be the same as the 1XS, but it might run at the depth you're looking for.

Mann's Baby 1 minus……..better than a spinnerbait over shallow grass beads.

1XS is only available in a few colors now. So if you really want that color then jump on them.

The KVD 1.5 shallow has good action but won't wake unless it's a super short cast. I'm going to melt the lip on one and see if I can get it to wake.

Try using plus size mono ~

20lb with the rod held high can help keep a bait running higher.

I dont know where you can get the  SK Pro Model 1XS in the Chartreuse w/ black back you mentioned. But you might try these colors in the Mann's Baby 1 Minus.

I have to agree with others the Mann's Baby 1 Minus has been a nice tool for me. Here has been a color that has been working for me.

Timber Tigers come in a DC1 that runs very shallow.  That's what I use if I want a smaller wake bait, that or a minus 1.   This winter I got the idea that if a little does a little good then a lot will do a lot of good so I bought one of those SPRO rat baits - the medium size which is still way over an ounce weight wise.  You reel that bait kinda slow with the rod tip up and it wakes ok.   That is the wake bait I'm going with through June this year.
