I use a Duckett Terex 7' M/F and it does the job really well. The tip is soft enough for treble hooks but handles grinding the bill through rocks. The butt section has a enough power to handle any bass out there.

The slower rod will keep them pinned better.  My steez flexlight is amazing and is  7' medium.  Not a fast rod at all.
