Jeff, you will never get the approval of some unless you fish it! Now get busy... we need to know how this compares the standard 13 Met and other cool, shiny new toys!

Well I was rigged and ready until the wife said she wanted to go fishing today.  First time in probably 2 years, so I rearranged and we went gill fishing.  Will report back here next time I get out, but in the mean time :

So what's the verdict?  I've heard the mgl is smoother and casts lighter stuff a little better than the previous model.  I've been staring at the mgl all night.  I'm wondering if it's noticeably better than the my met 13 xg.

Unfortunately( well maybe) I have not gotten to fish since Sunday as he wife and I are leaving tomorrow to go out of the country on our anniversary trip.  I will not be bass fishing( I will go fishing on our trip just offshore) again until the weekend of the 10th-12th.  I have spooled it up and made some casts in the yard.  From what I can tell, it is very comparable to the 13 series, but lighter.  The Smoother- maybe?  Being able to cast lighter lures better, it certainly should.  I am hesitant to say any of this until I spend a couple days on he water and catch some fish with it.  Is it a reel worth having in your arsenal though-- Yes of course! :)

That's such a nice looking reel...really smooth and clean lines all around, and the brushed aluminum look just adds to it, almost looks like an art sculpture.

I've been staring at them for a week.  In a moment of weakness, I just ordered one.  Now I need another rod :)
