S. Sass Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 OK I am new to the hard plastic swimbaits and after fishing 2 different ones this past evening I wanted to share my thoughts and questions. RAW08-271 worked pretty good. The thing cast well, it had a nice action to it, it even sank at a pace I could live with. Caught a nice bass with it. However the rear hook would once in a while get hung over the section right in front of the tail. Anyone else have that issue? I ordered 4 H2O XPRESS® Jointed Sunfish 3-1/2" Swimbait and right before I left the house I got the BLUEGILL colored one. So anyway after I caught the first fish on the RAW08-271 I thought heck I will try the new H2O one. This bait is very well colored btw. Looks awesome however this bait seems to get the hooks either tangled together or the rear hook does as the RAW08-271 and hangs up on the section right in front of the tail. I haven't got the other 3 yet but I am assuming all will be the same. Is it normal for the hooks to tangle like this? So whats your thoughts on these baits? Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted May 26, 2016 Global Moderator Posted May 26, 2016 Have not fished the first one, but with the H2O, I'd suggest removing the back hook altogether and upping the front hook 1 size. I haven't fished the smaller bluegill but it worked well for the bigger one that had the same issues. 1 Quote
S. Sass Posted May 26, 2016 Author Posted May 26, 2016 Awesome thanks. I did see on the internet where some fella changed out the back hook to a single hook. Is that just another solution? Better or worse? I didn't know the reason for the treble to single hook change I am now assuming to stop this. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted May 26, 2016 Global Moderator Posted May 26, 2016 I wouldn't bother. It's not a big bait and most fish hit it either head first or at the belly anyways. I didn't ever feel like i was missing fish on the 4" version with a single treble. 1 Quote
