Kevin Lin Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 I live in Coral Springs is there any canals down here in south Florida that holds peacock bass and some saltwater fish? Would love to try to catch some and what bait should I use Quote
SoFloBassFiend Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 Your actually looking for fresh water that has peacock snook and tarpon I assume? Don't know of peacock in brackish water. Quote
Super User BassinLou Posted May 26, 2016 Super User Posted May 26, 2016 Our canals will hold bass, pea's snook, and tarpon. The closer you get to the coasts, these same canals may have jack's. At one point however, the canals will reach a transition zone and your chances of the saltwater fish will increase, while your chances of freshwater fish will decrease. 1 Quote
Super User soflabasser Posted May 28, 2016 Super User Posted May 28, 2016 You don't need to be in brackish water to catch Snook and Tarpon, these fish can live in 100% freshwater canals. There is a freshwater canal down here where I have caught Largemouth Bass,Peacock Bass,Snook ,Tarpon, and various exotics all in the same day.Coral Springs does have Peacock Bass, but I recommend going further further east or south to increase your chances of catching them.A Rapala X rap can help you catch all these fish and is one of my favorite lures to use when canal fishing.
