mac7373 Posted April 30, 2005 Posted April 30, 2005 I just got my requested brochure from the Triton dealership here in Oklahoma. It wasn't something pre-printed or anything like that...it was more like an invoice that someone had taken the time to write out. Anyway...the quote they sent me was for a 2005 Triton TR-21XD, 2005 Mercury 250hp Verado + trailer and the standard extras on most boats...$51,500. That's a steal of a price huh? I should jump all over that? Yeah right! I thought that was a little high, and for that matter, so was the guy giving me the quote evidentially. Quote
gamblerOH Posted April 30, 2005 Posted April 30, 2005 What a deal!! The boat manufactures are all going crazy with these high prices. I have been looking at new boats for the last few weeks and from what I've found skeeter and stratos seem to have the most reasonable pricing. Tritons are not 50,000 $$ boats. Quote
mac7373 Posted April 30, 2005 Author Posted April 30, 2005 I have posted this in a couple of other threads, but I am leaning heavily towards Skeeter at this point. The only complaint I had with the handfull of Skeeters I looked at and the one I rode in yesterday was the fact that the trolling motor foot pedal is not recessed into the front deck. I don't know that thats going to keep from gettin one though. I really liked everything the Skeeter guys had to show me and the ride was pretty good as well. I am still not going to buy one for another 6 weeks or so, so I still have lots of time to shop around. If thats what you have to pay for Tritons, its safe to assume they are not getting a second look from me at this point. Mac Quote
cedar1 Posted April 30, 2005 Posted April 30, 2005 Mac7373 Abuddy of mine makes his own pedal wells out of stainless steal and covers them with the same stuff they spray on truck beds (rhino liner) they are easy to install if you dont mined cutting a hole in your brand new boat. Quote
gamblerOH Posted April 30, 2005 Posted April 30, 2005 i dont like the recessed foot pedals anyway, You cant move it at all so if its not where you want it when they build the boat then youre just out of luck. I think a foot pedal that moves can be a lot more comfortable in the long run. Quote
Muddpuppy Posted April 30, 2005 Posted April 30, 2005 It's probably the 15 yr. financeing some offer. They figure that they can charge anything they want, since you won't live long enough to pay for it anyway. ;D Quote
gamblerOH Posted May 1, 2005 Posted May 1, 2005 Muddpuppy is exactly right about the 15 year financing. I believe if you cant pay for it in 5 years then you really cant afford it anyway.Thats why I have to buy my boats and vehicles a couple years old. My wife is a loan officer at a bank and here are the #'s she came up with if you were to finance that new triton mac7373 was looking at. For 15 yrs the payment would be $460.02 and you would be paying back $82,803. The same loan on 5 years would be $1017.33 per month and you would pay back $61,039. The five year loan would save you $21,764. I know a $1,000 a month is a ton but if you are buying $50,000 toys then that should not be a problem (although it would be a big problem for me!!). Quote
JT Bagwell Posted May 5, 2005 Posted May 5, 2005 Tritons are not 50,000 $$ boats. Are any bass boats really $50,000 boats? Should Gas really be $2.50 per gallon? Is it really worth it to pay $5 for (4) 1/4 oz. tungsten weights? NO We are just so used to getting screwed that we accept it as the norm. JT Bagwell Quote
gamblerOH Posted May 5, 2005 Posted May 5, 2005 JT, tungsten weights are cool and we need them 8) I agree no bass boat is worth $50,000 . I refuse to get caught up in financing any boat for more than 5 years, although it means I have to pay more monthly. My dad taught me growing up that we can become "slaves to the lender" and thats whats happening to a lot of people. The boat manufactures are taking advantage of the fact that boats can be financed so long, but its at our expense. mac7373 Posted May 5, 2005 Author Posted May 5, 2005 Not a big fan of ProCraft...don't really know much about them other than I don't see very many of them and the ones I have I haven't really liked the looks of that much. May be great boats...I just don't care for the looks of them. I am really leaning heavily towards Skeeter. There is not a close second at this point...Stratos is a distant second with Ranger not too far behind, if at all. Quote
Super User J._Bricker Posted May 18, 2005 Super User Posted May 18, 2005 Hey Mac, couldn't resist adding to the string. 51K is too much for any bass boat. I'll continue to say this, check out a tournament certificate boat. It's what they give the winner instead of the boat. Paid under 30K for my certificate. The certificate was for an '04 519VX with a 175hp Optimax, trailer and all the bells and whistles. Upgraded the boat to a 520 and the Optimax to a 225, and I picked the colors I wanted. Saved a pile of cash (the upgrades were not as much as you might think) and still happy with my 1 year old boat. Saw certificates for Skeeters, Tritons, and Basscats when I was looking for my Ranger. Just some thing else to consider. ;D Quote
