Have they spawned yet?

I have been fishing the shorelines for a week now. There are beds and males everywhere. The water is in the mid 60s. I caught a 4.5 pound female a few days ago. She was the only female I have caught on the shoreline. There are a few males still on beds. I have been reading about how females go out deeper to summer spots after spawning. I went to a summer spot and found a canal with some rocks at 12 feet. I caught 4 females in 15 minutes. They were really fat. I got a 5 pounder also. She was very thick. Is it possible that the females haven't spawned yet and have eggs in their stomachs or have they just been eating really well? Thanks

depends on the lake,..its possible that smaller ponds may be done ,.,,, but then yet the way the weather has been they may of decided to back off the beds for more stable warm weather

Yes, but it also depends where your at and there are some late spawners still. But for the most part it's post spawn as far as I'm concerned.

They're all done here. Tons of fry all over all the lakes I've been on recently.

My home lake is just getting into the swing go things here in Northern, MA. I see beds but the shallows don't resemble a honeycomb yet. Would imagine next 5-7 days its going WOT.

About what temperature do you guys usually consider the spawn to be finished at? I know they are not all at once, but what temperature seems to be when you start fishing for post spawners the most?

Where I am in central Mass I think the spawn is wrapping up. Especially after this week, where there will be daily temps approaching 90 for the next 4 days.

If you're catching fat females in deep water close to spawning areas, they probably haven't moved to the beds yet.   Especially if you're there often enough and still haven't seen any.

Our water temp is at 73 degree where are we at in the spawn,it seems like they never hit the banks here ?

Up in MN I've found that on larger lakes the spawn was in full force last weekend. On a smaller lake it was wrapping up. Fry were everywhere and the fry guarders were defending more than eating. I did find some females willing to bite at the mouth of the spawning coves. 

But others are right, it depends on the lake. I fished four different lakes last weekend and each was in a different phase of the spawn.
