jtipton91 Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 Can anyone verify when this reel was made or released for sale? It's a quantum energy pt burner. E770pt. 7:1 Also does anyone have any comments or opinions as to if it's a very good reel or not? I picked it up at a garage sale for $10. The pictures are ones I found on Google images by the way. Just to help identify. Quote

I remember many of the people I knew who had that reel absolutely loved it. I would give it a good cleaning and I think you'll like it Quote
nhpleasantlakebass Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 More then 8 In pretty sure it's closer to 15 my uncle has a few and lives them to this day. They were around 200$ brand new back then which was alot. Quote
jtipton91 Posted May 24, 2016 Author Posted May 24, 2016 Wow looks like a good buy then. It feels so solid. I believe the frame and both side plates appear to be alum. It's very smooth since I cleaned and lubed it. Quote
RichF Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 I had one. Have the tour as well from that year. They worked ok. Could cast a mile but I found the brakes touchy. Lots of drag power and very smooth. $10 is definitely a good deal! Quote
jtipton91 Posted May 24, 2016 Author Posted May 24, 2016 So tempting. Could you do 15$? I gotta make some money to save up and buy a new reel...lol Quote
tstraub Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 I have the exact same model I got mine used a few months back off of the flea market forum here. I think I gave $30 or $40 for mine. I haven't spent too much time on the water with it but the more I use it the more I like it. The breaks are very touchy, when you get it set up right it will cast a long ways with no thumbing the spool during the cast. It behaves so well that you want to back off the brakes and see just how far the thing can cast. Give it one less click on the breaks and its an absolute disaster. I think that if you spend some time getting to know where its limits are you will really like it. You got a great deal on that reel. 1 Quote
