The only thing I didn't like is the drag. It seemed like you really have to crank it to lock it down.

A Carbontex upgrade from Smooth Drags is less than $10, and will resolve this issue.  I recommend a dry install.

Its probably because they came from different warehouses

Anyone know if the TW 25 days of Christmas starts tomorrow?

And does anyone know what's going to be discounted? The last few years someone has found a way to see the sale items in advance.

I just came across this sale and was getting ready to share it lol. Looks like a great time to try out a couple more rods in the lineup.

Am I missing something? These are like $230 at TW. Doesn't seem like THAT great of a sale.

This is your chance to get a Megabass Orochi XX rod at $100 off msrp. It will come will full warranty also. Their stuff never goes on sale but a new xx series is being released in the future. Go to The Tackle Trap to pick one up. They’re great guys to deal with and use everything they sell. $185 for a great stick is hard to beat.

misread.  I like to save $50.00 any and everytime!  Good deal!

Got the Spinnerbait special, though I swore myself not to get anyhting else after my Black Friday shopping spree... but you know how it goes...

It's taking all my will power to not jump on one of these. Right now my casting arsenal is this, from light to heavy:

Phenix Recon 682c

MBR 783c GLX

XX Tour Versatile

MB Hyuga 72H

I can't decide if any of the other XX rods really fit in without a ton of overlap.  I was thinking about one of the cranking rods, but I usually beat the bank with a single rod, so I like to stick to more "all around" rods.

I picked up a Diablo Spec R.  I am looking forward to it.  What is the handle length on that versus the Spinnerbait Special?  Thanks!

I’m not sure if TW just recently dropped their prices or if Megabass is ever included in their sales but these rods retailed for ~$300 depending on model.  A lot of the XX Orochi rods would typically sell for ~$200 used (for some of the more popular models). Now you can get a brand new rod, with warranty for about 1/3 off regular price. Good enough deal for me.

Looking at my two, they appear to be the same length.

My favorite one out of the XX lineup. So much so that I have two. Good all purpose rod.

MB products are excluded on TW sales except for this one. All dealers have permission to sell them at $100 off. It’s a great deal right now. Like you said they usually go for about $200 used.

The tour versatile was one of the least liked rods that I had in the XX lineup. The perfect pitch would be a good replacement for it. The spinnerbait special or emtf is a good all purpose rod.

Yea, people seem to be really hot/cold on the TV.  I went with it over the PP because I wanted to throw spinnerbaits/cranks on it in addition to jigs/worms, but now that I have it, I end up using it for chatterbaits most of the time and I love it for that. I would love to get my hands on a PP and make a few casts with one, but no where around me carries them.

The PP seems so popular that I have to assume that it will make an apperence in the new line, so I might wait and see.

Or I will just impulse buy one becuase I am a manchild with poor impulse control.

The PP has a better tip than the TV but more power. Definitely a must have out of the lineup. Should definitely be sticking around.

Anyone got thoughts on the MB F8-79 XX Flipping stick? Looks interesting.

What about usage for the Diablo compared to the SS?  Thank you!

DSR is softer and works great as a big single hook rod. I also throw the plopper 110 on it a lot. I’ve used it for tubes with 1/8 jig head and weightless 5” senkos. Works good for squarebills too. It has enough backbone for lighter bottom contact stuff also. Though the emtf is a better choice for that technique. The SBS has a faster taper and makes a good all purpose rod that’s under 7ft. It’s like a shorter emtf to me. I’ve used it for everything mentioned above at one point in time. I like it so much I picked up a second one a couple months ago. If I had to pick 4 must haves to cover my bases in my area they’d be...

perfect pitch

emtf or sbs if you prefer shorter rods

I just chatted with support and below is the answer I got:

We have not been instructed by management when, or if the sale is happening.

I got the same answer, which you know is BS. The page is already live on the website.
