DSG has the Team Lew's Custom Pro Speed Stick LFS-X5 in varying sizes on sale. The 6'10 MH/F is $90, the 7'4 H/F is $108. I'm mostly a Daiwa, Shimano, MB rod guy, but I have the 6'8 M/F model, and it has a nice magbass type taper that punches above it's weight.

10% off BPS if you order online and pick up instore, works on electronics like Humminbird/Garmin. The Echomap12 UltraSV with GT54 is $1350 before tax.

I'm not knocking Kistler specifically because this is a strategy other manufacturers and retailers regardless of industry employ, but with the rods always "on sale"... are they really on sale?

It feels deceptive to me if the item is never available at the "regular" price.

250 for a Helium today!  With a free Argon tossed in.

I don't have an Argon, so can't make recommendation on that.  But, I do have five Heliums.

Midway has 17 lb/1000 yd Tatsu for $165. It's labeled as "blemished". Knowing Midway, it's likely just some blemish on the box or spool.

It looks like it sold out, I bought 2 with free prime shipping. The 4lb/25yards is $5.11, but I dunno what that would be used for other than trout/panfish leaders.

This is Amazon matching third parties' sale prices, and this time is Campsaver.com. You can order directly from them, with all sorts of Blue Labels on sale. $49+ for free shipping; I've ordered from them before. They have many things on sale right now, e.g., Falcon Expert rod, 7'3"Hudson Special, for $83. This is a very good deal.

I've seen a couple places post about this. Is the Orochi xx line being discontinued? Would imagine if it's staying, and they're just dropping the price on them then that'd eat into sales of the Levante line.

That's what I'm guessing. I'm hoping they're just being replaced with a new model in that $300 price range. I know they have the new Orochi X10, but that's $400.

Kistler website has their Chromium reels (100 & 200 size) marked down to $88. Regular "$300". Anybody have any experience with these?

Posted

@NorthernBasser I have their original reels, the Series 1. It performs well enough, I haven't done any maintenance and maybe that's the reason it's Geary. I can feel and hear the retrieve.

They use free swinging centrifugal breaks, there is no on and off. They swing out when they need to and back off when they're not needed.

The drag clicker makes fighting fish so much more enjoyable, because of the visceral element of Hearing drag peel, but also having a better understanding of what is happening on that end of the line.

The chromium, from my understanding is similar. They've added ceramic spool bearings and I think upgraded the spool.

The series 1 definitely likes lures with a little more meat, but I'm also more a fan of magnetic breaking than centrifugal. I'm definitely a little haphazard with my thumb.

88 bucks is definitely enticing bro, if you dig centrifugal breaks it seems worth a shot to me. If i didn't need rods to put on reels I might be tempted myself, but I think I'm leaning on Daiwa's forgiving breaks a bit more than I like to admit

Wonder what’s going to replace them. Not sure I’d jump on them for 200 but the launcher is intriguing.

Update on the price drop on these if I read it correctly, $99.00 for the Orochi’s…. just a crazy price if confirmed 👍

It's $199. I imagine Megabass is setting that price for the retailers hence why they're all the same.
