Academy just launched a new fishing sale. Rod and reel discounts among other things.

Seems like pure fishing is on sale most places right now, including their website. Good time to stock up on big game line if nothing else

Thank you @RichF and @12poundbass for the info.

I ordered the Pilot II Jacket and Bibs from Midway......living in MN for close to 20 years I have purchased and wear legit cold weather gear......yet my rain gear for warmer temps has seen better days (it still functions and will be donated).....although not perfect/the most high end rain gear....I believe the Frogg Toggs Pilot II gear is an excellent deal from Midway ($189 for both the jacket and the bibs) so I pulled the trigger on it

Not sure if its the same one @FishTax was referring to but Academy currently has 25% off pretty much any rod and reel they have if you buy the rod and reel at the same time. Good opportunity if you are looking for something that isn't an old / clearance item and in my case I ended up getting a new wacky / shaky head setup. Already caught one with a shaky head off the local lake shore too :)

Yes that's the one. Tell us more about what you got! That's exactly what I'm looking for right now!

KD 713SF with a Lew's Hypermag 300. They had to ship the Hypermag but I already picked up the Kaden and put a Stradic on it and am happy w/ that setup for shaky heads and wacky senkos. Will probably pair the Hypermag with the Custom Lite CLWJS (MH F) spinning rod that I got a few weeks back...the drag on the Hypermag is a bit heavier so I think it will go well on that rod since I use it for fluke / tube / keitech fishing around grass. I would have bought a second rod / reel since this seems like a pretty good deal but Academy doesn't seem to carry the Victory line :(

Yamamoto products were all marked down for over 2 weeks during the BPS annual spring sale in March.

Dick’s Sporting Goods has Mach hardbaits 1/2 price and buy one get one stacked online, unsure if it works in store… I’m doing pickup tonight. I know they get a lot of hate but I got 2 Machshad swimbaits for $7.50, just goes to show how bad the markup is in the first place. I would never buy these at full price, and would probably pass at 1/2 price only because I’m not a swimbait guy, but for $3.75 each I gotta try them.

I know why the Mach swimbaits are discounted. The metal joints are painted over and the sections do not move freely, they get stuck sideways often. I haven't try it in the water yet, but I don't have high hopes.

The poppers look nice. No joints.

Mine seem okay, I’ll know for sure once I get them wet. I had a $10 reward credit so 2 swimbaits and a pack of yum hellgramites for $1.03 is a good day for me and the monkey. He almost got me for 5 evo elites but I don’t even like chatterbaits.

amazon has some JDM zillions marked down(~200 for the SV and ~250 for the SV HD). Prices fluctuate pretty regularly. Not sure which to buy, any wisdom?

I've got both, both are incredible but quite different.

The SV TW is imho the best all around baitcaster on the market.   It excels for chatterbaits/spinnerbaits, jerkbaits, standard size T-Rig/Free Rigs, flatside/squarebill cranks, blade baits, and a bunch of other typical Bass lures.

The HD TW is an absolute unit of a reel, built like a tank.   Has brass gears vs. AI in the SV TW, and has a larger handle and knobs vs the SV TW.    This reel is made for "heavy duty" techniques.    Jigs, larger T-Rigs/Free Rigs, A-Rigs, 1-4oz Glides, deep cranks, C-Rigs, etc.    Packs a ton of power in a relatively compact and ultra smooth package.

Think of the SV TW as an all around normal baitcaster while the HD TW is a heavy duty, significantly more robust baitcaster.

How much of a savings?

Just opened my box from BPS spring sale, it had senkos in it. I'm an idiot. :) Then I bought more at Academy sale. Now bait monkey says I should buy more at TW sale, but I'm fighting it because I have enough to last me 3 years already.
