What sites would be on your list to subscribe for notifications, or just check regularly for sales?

Omnia, Fish USA, Scheels.

I also get Fleet Farm, but fishing is a very small part of what they sell, so you have to search the online weekly ad...

With a code you can get 15% off at Omnia all the time. Don't think it works for rods/reels tho. Midway USA is another good one.

Yeah, I've bought shooting and reloading gear from Midway for years, I didn't know they even sold fishing gear.  But I found my reels there a couple of weeks ago at a great discount.

It works for rods and reels excluding Shimano, Loomis, and Megabass like many retailers.  It works on Daiwa and St. Croix for sure though I have bought several from them with discount.

The Hook Up Tackle is having an unadvertised St Croix rod sale this week... buy any St Croix rod and get 30% of that price back in the form of a gift card that will be sent to your email at the completion of your order (e.g., buy a $200 Victory rod and they'll send you a $60 gift card with your confirmation that you can turn around and use right away or sit on until the Labor Day sale).

Anyone knows where I can find some fair price Bass Patrol football jigs? All the usual sites jacked up the price to $3 a piece, including TW.  Thanks!

This thread almost dropped all the way to page 3. Can't have that.

Academy has '$10 off $50 purchase' and '$20 off $100 purchase'. Must be logged in to see discount in your cart.

Ran into Academy today for a few baits and they had several rods on decent sales. $30-50 off. Veritas, 13 blackout, TP1, Daiwa Procyon, Tac40, all star, etc. Not sure if it’s specific to my location or nationwide.

I was in Academy this morning and they had a pretty good bit of their H2O stuff marked as “clearance”. They were only marked down about 50 cents, but I was surprised to see some of the stuff that was marked "clearance". All the other H2O stuff was just marked as “sale”. The one item I was there looking for, a floating jerk bait, was marked as clearance in the store and online it was marked as out of stock. I grabbed a couple just in case. The clearance stuff had price stickers too, which is unusual, and probably means they'll be marked down more as time goes by.

So just a heads-up they may be discontinuing some of their good stuff. Maybe better stuff is replacing it, but who knows these days.

Cheaper rod option.

Midway has the 7'1 med-heavy Tatula XT casting (not 2022 model I don't believe) on sale for $61, reg. $100. Also the 6'6 medium spinning rod for same price.

Speaking of Academy, I've seen many of them clearancing out the first-gen SLX rods for around $50.

That's a great deal on one of the best rods in the $100 price range IMO.

Yes. I was in our local Academy today and the SLX came up as $54.95 on the price check. There was no sign indicating it was on sale and it's full price on the website (which shows them all as out of stock even though my Academy had around a dozen on display).

I price checked a few other rods and didn't see any noticeable discounts except on a couple of H2O Express models.

The crankbait aisle had a bunch of "clearance" tags on the rack, appeared to be mostly H2O Express models. I didn't check closely but it seemed most of them were $1-ish off regular price.

Omnia has the Fenwick Techna PX (casting) marked down to $130, regular $230. Only a few models available. I have the 6'8 medium/fast. Nice rods.

They also have their World Class (casting & spinning) on sale. They're regular $330 but the casting is marked down to $200 and the spinning $230.

Dang you guys cost me 54 bucks at Academy just now......can confirm the SLX rods are basically half off.   Lots of the H20 lineup was marked down...not heavily though.     Some other things were marked down as well, but nothing like these rods.

Only knew about them because of this thread the other day, and they had two 7" spinning models, and a 6'10 baitcaster model.      I have no clue about these rods as I just back into fishing, and this is the cheapest rod I've bought so I hope I didn't just blow some money.

Hopefully you guys can help me on something......I'm not a spinning reel guy, but I've heard that this Ned Rig is the rage these days, and a 7" spinning setup with braid and a leader is the way to go.  This is partly the reason why I gambled on a budget class rod.    Can you guys recommend me a solid reel to match the price range of this rod be it 50 or 100.     Lastly what's a good braid to run on it?....not a braid guy either lol
