Academy has the 2000 size Pfleuger President reel on sale for about $35, for those looking for a good light line reel.

The new model Presidents (2020 and later) are not up to the standards of the old ones...this is something I'd pass on.

So I’ve heard. I passed on it due to teeny tiny line capacity relative to other size 2000 reels.

If you're talking the President 20 - that's not a '2000' reel. Pflueger's spinning reel sizes are 'custom'.

20 = 500

25 = 1000

30 = 2500

35 = 3000

40 = 4000 (only one that 'lines up')

How did they go downhill?  For me at any price, it seems there is a Daiwa to match with a smoother feel and better drag.  Just my opinion but I know of some folks who swear by the President reels.

Are they the newer ones - I love my 2017 President-25...it's my finesse reel on a Fury 702SF. I checked some of the newer models at the local Scheels, and they felt geary and the bail seemed to 'wobble' on retrieve.

I don't know about long term on the newer models and despite my 45+ years of loving Pflueger, they've seemed to gone downhill so I'm looking elsewhere for upgrades.

Thanks for this. Got two rods I didn’t need for $101 after this discount, first time purchaser extra discount, and free shipping. One spinning, one casting.

thanks!!!.  just did this.  ordered a Tatula LT2500 and the coupon code worked!!  took the sting out of destroying my Vanford 2500 this weekend down a couple of pain notches.   every other site excluded Daiwa and Shimano from their sale.

boxing Vanford up for repairs hopefully.

pflueger sizes are different than shimano/diawa.  a 20 size pflueger is the smallest they make, smaller than a 1000 size in other brands.  a 30 size is slightly smaller than a 2500 size and it's what I use exclusively for bass/pike/walleye and they balance the best on a medium or medium light rod. a 35 would be better suited for a medium heavy rod

I dont know about the regular president but I've used the president XT and LE with zero issues.  they frequently go on sale for $49 at BPS or Amazon.  you get a sealed drag, lighter reel and faster gear ratio than the regular president

i have an older (old) pflueger 20.  still going strong.  it is minuature.  so tiny you could hang it from the rearview as an ornament.  i have taken big Sierra Nevada trout on that thing.  my first impression when i took it out of a box decades ago was, "i'm gonna break this thing!"  but nope.  crammed into a backpack, and over 200 miles hiking after trout, the thing has never failed me.  i bought it when i was college broke, so i know it didnt cost much.  i cant remember now.

What is the url? Google keeps pulling up an outdoor gear shop which doesn’t carry tackle.

Rather get the premium membership and get 25off imo.

Premium doesnt snag Loomis. The current promo hits both Shimano and Loomis.

Omnia deal is 25% off for premium members? I've been looking at joining and this might push me over the edge :)

Use punch fishings code and you also get 10% back from premium. So effectively 25% off but the usual exclusions apply. I was on the fence with premium but if you spend at least $300 a year it pays for itselfs, and after that it’s just straight discounts.

This summer site wide sale is different and the first time I’ve seen them let the discount hit the big brands. MB is still excluded though which is a bummer.

 the house bought austin kayak's inventory after they went out of business last year.  I think that's where the random fishing stuff came from. I'd be afraid they wouldnt ship it properly.

I'm still confused on where the 25% off comes into play?

Is the current sale 25% off for premium members, instead of 20%?
