What is better, a Dobyns Fury or Shimano SLX?  I'm looking for a medium heavy general purpose baitcaster.  If I pick the Shimano, I could also add an SLX XT reel and get the combo for $160.

What does "general purpose" mean to you? What kind of water do you fish? Do you like crisp rods?

This rod would be for heavier jigs, swim baits, etc.  I mostly bank fish ponds and lakes in Texas.  I'm a newer angler looking to add another rod to the 2 I have currently.  I currently have a Shimano Nasci 2500 on an Ugly Stik Medium spinning rod for plastics, etc.  I also have a Curado DC paired to a Dobyns Fury 703C for Texas rigs, spinners and light crank baits.

I am looking for a Medium Heavy baitcaster to build out my rod/reel inventory and was considering a 704C or Shimano SLX medium/heavy.

Appreciate any input as I look to take advantage of Black Friday sales.

Also, if I can pick up a discounted Curado DC, I may pick that up to pair with it.

I have the MH SLX and enjoy it for flukes and paddle tails. I think it lacks backbone around vegetation and have not enjoyed throwing jigs on it. Would point you to the Fury for your application.

Thanks, I think the 704C would be a good compliment and probably also replacing my Ugly Stik spinning rod.

I think you will be happier with the 704c for what you're doing. There's a Dobyns discount code earlier in this thread if you don't already have it.

As usual, TW started their sale early.

Also, Megabass baits are included in the sale. It'll show the discount in your confirmation email. Not sure about their rods.

Yes but how about when the did the extra 10% on certain brands like strike king, did that show up the night before to? I know that extra 10 shows up on the main page and the extra 20 showed in the cart. Holding out hope they do the extra again. I will wait till the official time tomorrow as none of the stuff on my list is must haves.

Got my TW order placed already!

Shimano Vanford 2500

5x GoPro 8 Batteries

Whopper Plopper Size 60 Perch Color

Red Eye Shad 1/4 oz

Owner Stinger x3 Replacement Treble Hooks

Hopefully a nice spinning reel along with the X-Ray MB-733 I'm building will get me to fish with spinning gear a little more.

Hmm, where are you seeing this? I would assume there would be some sort of message on their front page saying this. Plus I have some items webpage still up I was considering (not items that would not publicly show a price difference like Shimano, Megabass, etc) and when I refresh the page the price is the same. What gives?

Just to be SURE what once you made the purchase and got the email what did they actually charge you for the Vanford?

I seed that now but in the past didn't it adjust the price on the page of that item from the get go? Or am I remembering wrong?

Does anyone know if Daiwa reels are discounted once it is purchased like Shimano items?

EDIT: My friend ordered a Daiwa Tatula CT and discount was also shown in the purchased confirmation email.

Just to let everyone know and rest easy I just ordered a Vanford 2500 and the price came out to $183.99 so as we all figured Shimano is included.

Extra 10% off Ark products. For a full $100.00 off retail price I pulled the trigger on the Reinforcer 6’10 ml spinning model that the guys at TackleTour have been raving about.

fishingonline had reels at 30% off!

They’re legit. Popular tackle store for kayakers. I’ve ordered from them before.
