@Centralinfinesse   Is the Buck Perry Spoon Plugging a book I should read as a person who can never get enough info? It's a book you could read and use the info with other other techniques correct?

I ordered a copy of it as well and it should be here tomorrow.  From what I gathered from everyone talking about it, is that focuses on structure, breaks and break lines and how bass relate to them.

I have not recieved spoonplugging yet, it's not predicted to arrive for another week or two.  Several extremely knowledgeable people on this forum and elsewhere have highly recommended it, and according to them it's not so much about spoonplugging (although it does discuss it, that's not necessarily the point) but more about how to find deep water, offshore bass.  Such as what a sanctuary and contact points are, what they look like, etc.  So yes, it is a book you could read and use the information with other techniques besides spoonplugs and the jump lures described in the book.

Yep, this book is not really about the lure at all.  It's about how to understand where fish are and why they are there in most any type of water (reservoir, lakes, even a little about ponds).  It teaches you to better understand your body of water and how to be more productive/efficient.  His writing style is kind of colloquial but you get used to it.  It's the type of book that every time you read it you'll learn something you missed previously.

Has anyone tried using cabela's Whuppin stick for crankbaits?  It's on sale for only $20 (and is ruitenely is marked down even lower).  I've been eyeing the seven foot medium moderate rod to pair with my bantam for cranks.

Thanks for the heads up regarding the special deals that are happening these days, I appreciate it.

I believe that I'm done buying for the year as I'll be putting my focus on chatterbait, spinnerbait, and squarebill fishing along with my usual topwater, jerkbait, and crankbait offerings.  The only lures from here on in that will get my attention are those that may be released leading up to or at the Classic, so it's a bit of a wait and see.

I am booking my vacation time in some provincial parks this year so am focusing my buying dollars on camping items. I've purchased a great tent and got a great Coleman stove for Christmas. Really looking forward to using the stove which has both a burner and a grill portion so it'll be easier to have a fish fry during the day wherever I find myself wetting a line. I've found a great self inflating sleeping pad and a small, packable sleeping bag that won't take up much room in what is going to be a packed Chevy Cruz this summer.

The last thing I need to purchase is my fishing line and I'll be keeping an eye on that for when it goes on sale. Only two brands, being Power Pro Super Slick in timber brown and Seaguar InvizX.

Hope that you're all enjoying the off season if you have one.
