if they have under 750 employees they would be classified as a small business

wow I didn't know that thanks

Dobyns rods is a small business when you consider their structure but,  it's a company with a significant inventory.  When you take into consideration Dobyns offers six different series and hundreds of models, inventory is is everything.   The question I ask is, how many buyers capitalizing on the discount are purchasing their first Dobyns rod or first in a series they have not purchased before?

Got a 795SB rod for $78 shipped. Can't beat that deal.

I was going to get another Sierra 734c but they're sold out. Dang

I wouldn't mind grabbing a 703 sierra spinning rod, but I don't do facebook...

As I have stated, bought my Sierra in 2018 during the TW 25 days sale and loved it last year. Best spinning rod I have ever used. This sale allowed me to get another Sierra for cheaper than the TW sale and yes my first model in the Champion XP series. I would have stuck in the sierra line, but getting a 6' 3" higher end rod did it. IMO not enough 6' or shorter higher quality rods on the market for folks that fish out of small boats.

For me the 133 price tag on the Champion on sale is the most I will likely ever pay for a rod. Anything more than that is beyond my budget for a rod. Reels are the same, I got some nice reels, but I got last years models for really good prices.

Do you take issue with those of us doing this?

You don’t have to do Facebook to get the deal. Just call or email Dobyns and reference the deal, or order it from Sportsman Outfitters for the same price with free shipping.

Alright, ordered

634CB Champion XP Perfect action and length. Fish out of a 16 foot single console deep V with high gunwale up front, so I should be able to roll cast baits easily. So hard to find a short mod fast higher end stick!

693SF Sierra to compliment the medium light sierra I have.

Essentially got both for a little over the regular price of the champion.

I tried to order the 634cb and they told me they no longer carry them. Luckily for me I found a guy on FB selling one that's like new for $115 shipped. I wanted it for kayaking small rivers with and for jerkbaits from the bank. I'm hoping it a little stronger than my 704 glass and I can throw the whopper plopper size 90 on it.

Not my first Dobyns, but I used it to get my first Sierra, just because I wanted at least one from each series. I ordered 5 in total.

I ordered yesterday, and as of now I haven't heard that it isn't available. Fingers crossed. The 635CB was sold out though.

I've had the Champion's years ago, I just e-mailed Dobyns re: a Sierra spinning rod. Just can't afford the Champion's on a small pension..sigh..

Not on FB, I got this from Sportsmans outfitters, hence the free shipping. :)

They have the same deal, supposedly drop shipped from Dobyns. It's my first time ordering from them but all looks good from what I've seen in this thread.

Have they sent you an invoice yet? I tried Tuesday afternoon and got this msg.

Kevin,

We do not carry the DC 634CB anymore. Would you like a different model?

Thanks,

But, then I seen they had them at Sportsman Outfitters and said in stock, but also heard that they are just drop-shipping them from Dobyns. So I don't know, let me know if you get one, I would be pretty mad they lied to me.

cgolf,

Not at all!   Any time a guy can obtain a great product at a price they might not have been able to afford previously is great. I bought a Champion.  This is an inventory reduction plan.  I won a discount certificate for a Dobyns rods several years ago and used it.  This is a limited time promotion to stimulate sales and reduce inventory. There is no guilt trip attached. I'm sorry if my post implied that.

I hope mine goes through from Sunday...fingers crossed.  Still not showing shipped but that could be normal given the situation.

Worse comes to worst I’d go through dobyns directly, but rather not pay the shipping lol

I haven't got the shipping confirmation either. Not too worried yet. First time ordering from this place, so of course that doesn't help. Was like that when I ordered from other places to for the first time till it goes through.

The deal on Sportsman Outfitters is over. If you already placed an order than you're fine. I believe the rods themselves are shipping directly from Dobyns who I'm sure are absolutely swamped with orders right now. It wouldn't surprise me if it took an extra day or so for orders to ship.

I placed two orders from SO cause I had to do some research and I just got my tracking for the first rod. My card got hit for the second order too. I think we should all be good.
