I find it hard to believe a Kistler employee would say that. Maybe a pro staff? Anyway, yes prices did go up but their sales prices lately have been very good. I don’t know if blanks and components prices are up? Sign up for their email alerts for sale prices.

 

I bought 6 rods since January at good prices. Some less than I paid last year.

I have some Kistler rods and have recommended them to others in the past. After seeing how they handled things on Facebook a month or two ago I'll take my business elsewhere.

 

 

By the way, Dobyns is doing a 40% off sale for all members of the Dobyns Community Facebook page. The sale is for every model in there inventory. Sale started today and ends April 6th.

I was going to post this earlier, but I wanted to wait until I ordered what I wanted first. ? And, he didn't really want to advertise it a lot because it undercuts his dealers, but the cats out of the bag now.

 

This is what Gary Dobyns said earlier today.

 

Dobyns Rods DEAL starting today. This will run for 2 weeks only and ending on April 6th. I'm only going to offer this deal to Community Page Members here with our private group!! This virus crap is getting bad. We saw our business "order" traffic dry up to nothing last week. I'm sitting very heavy with inventory as this is our peak season. So I have tons of rods and not the strongest in cash, just as I always do it. But this virus has changed everything. I'm looking to turn some rods quickly. Again, this will last 2 weeks only and hopefully things have settled down a bit by then. All rods are 40% off to Dobyns Community Page Members. I will not go to the general Facebook public and further screw over my dealers. I really hate hurting my dealers but I will admit that I'm a bit scared and need to generate some cash. We will have to charge shipping of $25 per rod order, if you live close to someone, combine orders to save on shipping. Baits and clothing will also be included in this 2 week deal. 903-919-8028

Yeah, sounds like times are tough... and it seems like he's trying to offer it to a select group of his hardcore followers... Covid19 is sure doing some weird things... I'm afraid this is just the tip of the iceberg. Possibly more sales to come, etc. However, many people have lost jobs, so spending on fishing might take a backseat...

Wow. I love my Kistler's. Like I said, I have 4 of them. But I need to find out who is running their site. If Trey said that (I'd be shocked) I will never buy another Kistler again.

Sounds like Dobyns stocked up on rod for the busy season and then this crap hit, think he is just trying to get out from under the stock he had set back and make some money to help his company right now!

The price point after the 40% is deducted should be what the retail should regularly be on Dobyns rods, hopefully people that are on the fence take advantage of these much more realistic prices.

A conversation between Kistler and some customers that happened on one of there Facebook post back in late January. You can read some of it in the link posted on the last page, but it seams Kistler has since removed all but one of there responses.

I will thank you, but my wallet will not lol. I just ordered a SA 734C and a SA 735C to replace two of my rods that I'm not happy with.
