The other site mentioned throughout this thread has 20% off all non-sales items today.

Anybody else not finding a reason to order from the 25 days sale or am I the only one? Too bad that the last day of extra percent off wouldn't count against the stuff they marked down for this sale;) This is a first for me though, maybe something on the remaining days will do it.

I am finding the exact same thing this year.   Nothing is super impressive.  I used to love tackle warehouse but even black friday i ordered elsewhere as their sale was super late starting and other site had everything i wanted in stock

No berkley this year which i assume goes in line with all the berkley managment  and reps being let go a few weeks ago and the selloff of pure fishing.

Hadn't heard that Pure Fishing was sold off, but in my opinion, Berkley was very far down on the list before I would by one of there products. Not because they are bad, I just see others as better options for my fishing, except when it comes to line.

Pure fishing has not  been sold yet.  But the rumor  is Berkley pfleugar abu ect all facets of pure fishing will be sold of piece by piece.  All reps and most management have already been let go.   Rumor also has it all pro sponsorships will not be honored.

That's sad :(  Just looked at the careers section at Purefishing and the page would not load...looks like it has been deleted.

I find it hard to believe, given the recapitalization, and subsequent acquisition by Jarden or Newell (or whatever), but.....who knows.  I would think most of those brands will be around.

Who knows maybe Pradco will continue its buying spree. Feel bad for the pros if this is true, could really shake up FLW and the Elites.

Hopefully this his train gets back on track, sorry for aiding in the derailment;)

My buddy reminded me that Basspro has been buying up companies lately, maybe they will take an interest in this.

I think the only company they've bought recently is the multi billion dollar buy out of  cabela's, but I could be wrong.

Yes, the boat companies were recently acquired.  I believe the Cabela's deal is under scrutiny.

Does anyone have the latest 5$ off code for TW? I have seen it floating around, just not sure where to look.

You can usually come up with something if you google.  Lots of coupon code sites out there.

Did a Cabelas/Academy run yesterday  to spend some gift cards I got for Christmas. Spent $225 between both stores BUT I saved $300. All of the good deals came from Academy. Some highlights of the deals featured Strike King Structure Heads for $0.98 (reg 7.99, I think), Strike King 8.0 Magnum Cranks for $3, Seaguar Senshi for $5, and my favorite, Bill Lewis (Rat-L-Trap maker) Echo 1.75 for $1.48. I bought every Echo 1.75 they had which was 6 in Sexy Shad and 1 in a blue/chart. color. I only anticipated on spending $50 at Academy but I couldn't resist and had to throw an extra $50 out.

I picked up another Zillion.  Got a gift card first so I paid about $122 for it.  I would've bought a few more if they had the higher gear ratios.  Also got a 300 yd spool of the fx2 braid.  Anytime my favorite braid is on sale I grab some.  Thought long and hard about another Chronarch and Stradic CI4 but couldn't bring myself to do it.  I still have $250 in gift cards but I may just wait till the Memorial Day sale.

Yea, I would have jumped at one of the higher geared ones.  I still might pick one up if I have a moment of weakness at the end of the sale.

Mostly because Bass Pro is regretting their buying decision, lol!  Some of Cabela's earnings reports have showed increased revenues, but decreased profits and their CEO basically admitted that they were giving away the store to get people in he door! Good for us tough!

I meant the SEC approval part.  Generally the type of thing you mention would be shaken out in due diligence.

They only have the 5.5:1 in righties now but I don't crank enough to warrant replacing my Curado E5.  If that extra 25% off sale items counts towards it, I might reconsider though lol.  It is in fact on the "Sale" page.

Of course. What do you think the possibility of the merger being broken up is?

No clue.  I don't feel like the merger would be good for the consumer, ultimately.

Right, it would allow them to monopolize on a market that at this point is already a conglomerate bordering on monopolistic competition due to the differentiation in fishing products. My reference was to the fact that Cabela's has had to drive sale pricing in order to get consumers to put their foot in the door, which then helps me get good deals! :D

So do you guys know how that extra 25% off on the last day works? Some of the 25 days items are on the sale page, but most aren't. Is the expectation that those on the sale page will drop 25% more?
