Just thought id drop in and let you all know, h20 xpress ethos rods are on clearance at academy. Awesome deals going on them. I just picked up a 7ft mh-mod. composite cranker, and a 7ft mh-f ethos micro for 24$ a piece. 48 total for a couple highly underrated rods. Go get em!

Anybody have any experience with these?

Are they a good buy at $25 or would you be better off buying something else (lightning rod on sale, AMP, Cabela's fish eagle, etc)

These rods are legit. Comparable to the abu garcia veritas. In my opinion they are much better than a lightning rod, fish eagle etc.

Lowrance Elite-5 HDI Fishfinder/Chartplotter With Suncover is on sale for $170 at Gander Mountain, regular-$500.

this is the price after the rebate but it looks like the rebate is a $50 visa gift card and the price before the rebate is $270. Is the rebate $100 and I'm just reading it wrong?

I wasn't really looking for a new fish finder, but for $170 I wouldn't mind upgrading

I guess I have two fish finders to decide between now

yeah that was where i was at when i saw the deal.. i ended up with the 698 because of the SI.  It will be a trolling motor mount so i wanted the extra capability if it came to it.

Man, they have a ton of senko colors in stock, it works out to like $5 something per bag.

Yup found them all in the store.

They had several racks full of the rods and they have a bunch of reels that are priced down as well.

I picked up one of those Shimano Nexave reels at our Academy last week for $20. Don't really need it, but couldn't pass up a Shimano marked $40 off. I really like using these low end spinning reels for bank fishing/pond hopping. No worries if I beat em up really bad.

For those that don't have an Academy near them, Dick's has the same reel on sale for $29.98. If you order 2 you can use the $10 off $50 coupon to get it for the same price. You can get free shipping also.

TW has Biwaa baits on sale. Does anybody have experience with the Biwaa Seven Swimbaits? I've thought about pulling the trigger on one of these in the past, but have always been reluctant bc I fear they will not cast well like other segmented hard swimbaits I've purchased.

Wondering if these cast well.

I don't have personal experience with those baits but I see no reason why they would cast any better than other similar baits

Thanks for the heads up on the 25% off. Never been on that site before. Dropped $350, will post on bait monkey thread once I receive it.

Yeah, that's the problem with these types of baits. They look great & have great swimming action. But don't cast worth a flip. ?

I have a Spro & a cheap Academy swimbait. Both helicopter bad when casting.

I have one of the small Sevens and one of their trouts.  Neither of them cast very well for me, but I am not very skilled to begin with.  They both seem to have decent action and I might buy an other trout or two to throw right after DNR's spring rainbow stockings.

I have some of the H2O XPRESS Jointed 3-1/2" Swimbaits from Academy and have no issues casting them. They actually work quite well for me once you remove the rear hook. (It tangles in the joint sometimes)

As for the Biwaa baits I have a trout of theirs I got in a LTB but have yet to try it.

You guys are killing me.  I keep saying that buying stuff on sale will actually save money, but I can't afford to save that much money.
